Logitech Z-5500 - amazing sound and powerful bass

5

I will preface this review by stating that this review is purely subjective and I am by no means an expert on audio technology but I can't imagine a set of 5.1 speakers getting much better than this. The sound is just breathtaking. The massive subwoofer shakes the walls and the satellites emit crisp audio without any distortion even at high volume. The sound processing delivers beautifully separated sounds in games and movies which really immerse you in the experience. The fit and finish of the product is top notch and the setup is a breeze. I had everything up and running in less than ten minutes. There are multiple connection options including both digital and analog inputs. The control console is easy to use and the included remote is simple yet offers all the controls you would expect. If you want a powerful and easy to use sound system that will enhance all your media this is the only option in my opinion. Nothing else comes close. This system easily gets a 10 out of 10 from me.

Logitech Z-5500= AMAZING

5

I have owned the Logitech Z-5500 speaker system for about six months now. These speakers are amazing. The sound quality is spectacular and vastly exceeds my expectations. I currently have my computer hooked up to these speakers along with my LCD TV, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3. The TV, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3 are all connected via the optical input. The speakers only have a single optical input, but I use a switch that I purchased separately to connect all three devices to the speakers. The speakers make watching movies much more enjoyable. The surround sound effect makes it seem like you are at the movie theatre in your own home. These speakers are loud, I mean really loud. I keep them down at around 20% of the volume almost all the time and have never turned them all the way up. They also have great bass. The subwoofer is huge and you have to find somewhere to put it so that it is out of the way. The speaker wires for the satellite speakers are long enough for most set ups. Overall I am very pleased with these speakers and would gladly recommend them to anyone.

Best Computer Speakers

5

These speakers are the best speakers I have ever owned. I have owned them for over 6 years. Nothing has ever gone wrong. The subwoofer is so loud! The sound is just spectacular. Especially for the money you can not beat these. There is an optical input so you can get the highest quality sound possible. The speakers are very loud as well and are very very clear. For this amount of money there is nothing that can really beat this. It is very easy to use and very easy to setup! I would definitely recommend these speakers. The control panel is also very neat because you can change the inputs, effects, settings, sound level, volume, and mute everything with the click of a button. These speakers are hard to beat!

These speakers ROCK

5

These speakers are more awesome then you have read about. If you don't want to spend thousands on a hi end stereo system or don't like the packaged home theater packages in a box these speakers are for you. The bass on this thing is phenomenal. it's a 10-inch driver and packs a punch. I have this hooked up to a home theatre pc and action movies sound great on them. The mids and highs play very well for the price. Sound configuration is limited though if ou don't have this hooked up to a pc. (can only change basic bass and treble) the only down side to these speakers are there are a alot of wires to manage and try to hide. Also i am not a fan of remote control and the speaker control. This is more nit picking. the controllers make it look cheap and low in and totally robs from its awesomness. if you are on the fence about this get off and get it now!

Logitech Z5500 - Best Computer Speakers Period

5

I purchased the Logitech Z5500 5.1 setup from Dell a few years ago to replace a 2.1 computer speaker setup that was used for watching TV and movies and listening to music from a PC. The Logitech Z5500 was a huge upgrade, especially in terms of bass. The best thing about this set it undoubtedly the subwoofer. It hit hard and clean in the 30-60 hertz range for music and even dipped nice and low for DD LFE effects down to the 20 hertz region. The optical connection on the control unit meant I could connect to my computer via s/pdif to obtain a pure digital to digital signal (as opposed to using auxilliary). The Logitech Z5500 setup won't replace dedicated HT speakers especially in a large room, but they are definitely the best computer speakers you can buy, surpassing even Klipsch. The speakers are relatively small, so don't expect mind blowing SQ. In fact, I would say the highs are the Z5500's weakest points, although still most likely satisfactory for most users. The Z5500 set is perfect for college students, a small to medium media room, office, or bedroom. The sheer SPL that the Logitech Z5500s are capable of producing for such an affordable price is mind blowing. Logitech certainly has a winner here.

BEST 5.1 SPEAKERS IN THE WORLD!

5

Let me just start of this review by telling you to stop reading right now and go pick this up right now if you havent alright. I swear to god that I am not being paid to write this review. don't even think about changing your mind because when you get a hold of one of these bad boys you will learn the true meaning of loving sound/music. The Bass of speaker is a little big in size but it will shake your whole house (no lie) It has got to be the deepest bass I've heard, It's so good that I see people on youtube install the bass in their cars, lol. Beware though in order to get the full experience you will need to install a high end audio card in your PC otherwise you will not get good sound, trust me I know! I'm a Geek!.  anyway enough talking, below are the pros and cons on this item: Pros:- Suprb Sound! - Extremely clear- Deep Bass - Looks Amazing- Made by Logitech Cons:- Nothing! other then it may have been too expenisve when I purchased it 400 bucks.

Best Computer Speakers Everr!

5

These Logitech Z-5500's are one of the best computer speakers you can purchase in the market. The Logitech Z-5500 has remarkable sound quality. Low's, mid's, and high's all sound great with this speaker setup. The cables used for this are not RCA and are standard speaker wire's. The great part of this is that these wires are easy to replace and costs very cheap to buy. RCA wires are not great because they are thicker and harder to hide. All 5-speakers are amazing in quality. The bass is superb with its' 10" subwoofer. Bass sounds true to what it sounds like. The speakers also come with multiple connections. The center console houses all the connections to every piece of this speaker set. These computer speakers can connect ot Co-Axial, Digital Out, as well as standard 3.5mm speaker connection. The only downside I see in these speakers is that the center speaker is un-mountable. It is not able to be mounted on the top of your monitor. The reason is because it is fairly heavy and that it was not designed to be mounted. Other Logitech speakers are able to mount on top of the monitor.

Really Nice Speakers

5

I bought these speakers on black friday 2010 because I felt that 340 was pretty steep for computer speakers. I was wrong, these speakers are very good and clear even at low volumes. The input jacks available are very versatile. I did not know you could attach 3 stereo 3.5 headphone inputs if you did not have a 5.1 audio 3 output sound card. This means you can hook up to three mp3 players, laptops, phones, etc. just using the rear input jacks that support stereo channels. I use the toslink input to connect to my ps3 when i play Call of Duty. These speakers allow me to hear enemies sneaking up on me and their direction. It also helps if you are a "camper", so you will know which way to expect them. When i watch DTS movies on my laptop using the toslink input, this system recognizes the DTS signal and the sounds are crisp and lively. Time to time I just connect these speakers to my ipod and these speakers can create a simulated 5.1 sound. Setting up this system is pretty easy. They are generous with the 3 color coded included 3.5 audio cables too. I use these speakers everyday and they do not disappoint! The only downfall i can think of is that you can't adjust the gain on an individual surround speaker, but you can change the gain on the sub, center, and surround speakers as a whole.

Logitech z-5500 5.1 Surround Sound Speakers OWN!

5

I am quite the audiophile. I am in love with music (I am a DJ) and I want to hear it the way it's supposed to sound. Most of my music collection is lossless (see: WAV / FLAC). Having a good ear something I am incredibly thankful for and not a day goes by that am not listening to music. Electronic music dominates my listening preference because there are many subtle sonic goodies that the Logitech z-5500's can bring out. Being able to control the center / surround channels is a feature I make use of often. For ex: when it's time to take a shower, I bring the center speaker with me into the bathroom so I can groove in the shower. The standard speaker wire is long enough and can be replaced if it gets damaged or needs to be longer. I listen to a LOT of bass heavy music (dubstep, drum and bass, trance, techno, house) and the "10-inch long-throw subwoofer driver with a flared bass port delivers 188 watts of thunderous, distortion-free bass." Every millisecond counts here and you want, no NEED responsive bass. I've heard sound system's that highlight perhaps a higher register of low-end frequencies but fail on the deepest of sounds. The bass speaker is quite balanced and is one of my favorite things about the Logitech z-5500's. This baby pumps out 505 Watts RMS - remember that's sustained power - Total Peak power: 1010 watts. Especially if you keep turning the volume knob up past it's peak - you will enter 'Boost 11' mode. These speakers have powered countless parties and always amaze people when they realize that all this sound is coming from these fairly small (wall-mountable) satellites. Watching movies in HD along with these provide for one heck of an experience. Gaming with these will have your neighbors wondering if the house next door is going to blow up or not and will give you the advantage of knowing if footsteps are creeping up behind you. Looking back over the years at different technological purchases that I've made - I can say that the Logitech z-5500's are possibly my most favorite! The only issues I've come across over the past 6 years of ownership have been a slight rattle on the center speaker when it approaches full volume (most likely because that speaker has taken a couple falls) - this has been remedied by placing a small cushion underneath it to help absorb the vibration. Also a similar thing happens with the subwoofer (probably because I've run some parties at Boost 11 for longer than I should have!). Neither thing affects my daily usage and the set that I bought for my bro-in-law does not have these problems so I'm sure it's only from my usage (or should I say abusage). Highly recommended (I got em for almost half retail)! Your neighbors will love them!

Great Sound System

5

We have had this system for several years now and it is terrific.  It has a small footprint on the desk and the speakers are very attractive looking as is the main control.  The sound is very high quality and the stereo effect is strong even though the room is fairly small.  The sound is as good as our more expensive system in the living room.  I especially like how easy it is to turn the sound up and down right from the unit - there is a volume dial.  In addition, the on and off switch is very easy - when the phone rings I like to be able to turn the sound off very quickly.  The remote control is handy but I usually operate it from the main control.  Sound is rich even at low volumes and the surround sound fills the room.  I would recommend this for anyone who enjoys listening to music from their computer.  Setup, both physical and electronic using the computer and sound card, was very easy.
