This webcam is great and though isn't the cheapest, gives a great value for the price. It features a 1.3 MP still image camera and feeds a high quality video through video chat. The blue light under the top tinted cap lets you know when the camera is active, so you don't have to worry about leaving it on or wondering if it's on at all. It comes with two bases, one flat-bottomed base to mount on the table, and one flex footed base to hang off the top and down the back of your laptop screen [that's the base shown in the picture]. Standalone webcams are still better than 90% of the built-in 1.3MP webcams on laptops, so you'll have to decide whether you like the convenience of a built-in one or the image quality of a standalone. If you're doing webcasts or video blogs, you [or at least your viewers] might appreciate the quality of a standalone, but if you're just chatting with friends or family, a built-in one will do just fine.

The Logitech Quickcam Communicate STX is a average web cam but could be better. The Overall look is modern but the stand is a little awkward but works quite well. The important thing about webcams is the quality of the picture. The Logitech STX does not deliver especially for a Logitech product. The picture is grainy and fps (frames per second) does not deliver. Sometimes the fps can be clear and other times it will skip. It seems it does what it wants at times. This web cam has what logitech calls right light technology but manually adjusting is better at times. If you are in dim light the web cam will make it hard for the person to see you. Other web cams at the same price do a better job at lighting. This webcam also has a face tracker which its alright at doing and can be annoying at times.  The only decent thing about the Logitech STX is the software where you can change the picture to different styles. This can be fun but the Logitech STX is not abover average and not a great choice by me.

I bought this webcam to go online. To bascially get it to work you have to install the software and plug the camera in the right spot in the computer tower. I really was excited about getting this webcam to be able to see my family and friends sort of in person. I have a daughter and it's nice for her to see them as well.  I registered on a website called skype so that I can be able to contact everyone online. It's a great concept but it would be better if the webcam is built into the computer because my computer is on a desk with and over head cabinet so I can't put the webcam on top of the computer, I have to put it on the side which I prefer infront on me. Overall that is my only complaint. It is a total pleasure to be able to see family face to face with this webcam because it's the closest to that even if you are a 1,000 miles away or 5 minutes away. My daughter enjoys seeing her Grandmother through this camera. It has a privacy screen that you can close over the lense so that if you leave it on all the time people don't have to see your business. In opinion  the webcam is a nice product that people are starting to enjoy and use it more often to reconnect with people they never get to see.

This Logitech webcam does exactly as advertised with no frills or complaints. The microphone is clear and does not draw much background noise or feedback in it. While the image does not have a focus knob, the webcam automatically focuses the images depending on lighting conditions. Picture quality is above-average, although this depends on the lighting conditions. Sometimes you will be a somewhat grainy image, and sometimes a clear one, so the quality is a bit inconsistent. The build quality is solid, and the included clip is sturdy and useful. The cord is fairly long, and the performance (aside from picture quality) is up to expectation. This webcam should easily fulfill the requirements of Skype or another internet calling utility with no problems. There is a blue indicator light showing when the webcam is in use, and there are some decent picture adjustment controls in the software, which is easy to install and use. This is really a no frills webcam that provides acceptable, above-average performance.

We recently got this webcam to communicate via chat with our out of state relatives.  We could not spend a lot of money on a webcam, so we decided on this Logitech webcam.  Ours is 1.3 Megapixel.  It works fine for our uses, although the picture can be a little bit grainy.  It was easy to install and easy to hook up.  We usually use gmail chat and have not yet tried it with Skype.  We usually chat about once a week.  Gmail chat tends to freeze every once in awhile, but it might have to do with our webcam.  The sound is great and we have not had any problems with that.  It is relatively small and has a closure over the lens.  If you are looking for something basic to just be able to webchat, this is fine, but if you are using it professionally or want a better picture, I definately would recommend something a little more high end.  It seems to fit our needs, but we are not really as particular as some might be.
