I originally bought the Logitech LX7 because it has a "Power" button. I thought it'd be great to turn the thing off when I went to bed to conserve batteries. I don't know what I was thinking; it's never once crossed my mind to actually use it. Moreover, when I've been replacing the batteries and noticed yet again the "Power" button and been reminded it's there, I see it's far too small for me to use it anyway. I'd split a fingernail trying to push it (it's wide but short), and surely a man, with his larger fingers, would be hard-pressed to press it, too. Seems to me only a child stands a chance of pressing it!
Connecting it is a piece of cake; it comes with software, but being a Mac user, I merely plugged in the USB detector and off I went. I don't need any software. The detector gets buried on my desk beneath books and papers and the mouse doesn't seems to mind; it works anyway.
Aside from the "Power" button issue, the mouse is small and fits wonderfully into my dainty girl hands, and feels terrific. The mouse doesn't care that I get food crud both on top of it, in its seams, nor on its underside. Cat hair now and then gets in the way of its optic eye, and it doesn't seem to mind even that. The scrollwheel's action is smooth, and both the right and left click buttons (which aren't, in fact, separate buttons, but are merely the top of the mouse) are responsive (again, in spite of crud in the seams!).
It has three more buttons which I confess I don't know what they do; moreover, I'd need to actually look at the mouse to be able to use them anyway, as they sit beneath my palm. That's three too many buttons for me anyway.
When the batteries begin to die, the mouse behaves in a wonky manner; there's a "Reset" button on the bottom (near that "Power" button I forget to use) that can get me a few more minutes' use until I can locate a package of batteries (two AAs, by the way).
It's an excellent mouse, and might be the best I've owned thus far. It fits so sweetly into my hand! I only wish it came in colors that matched my office or my personality (Logitech's never been into that kind of thing) and that the "Power" button were more obvious and handy so that I could make use of it and save on batteries.
