We recently decided to finish our basement and turn it into a large entertaining area.  My husband ordered himself a ginormous plasma TV, a surround sound system, and a Blu-Ray player.  My father "gets" me and loves me.  He decided to buy me the Harmony One Remote Control for my birthday.

The Harmony One Remote Control is, simply, a remote control that will work all of the various electronics that one has in their entertainment and sound systems.  It costs about $200 and comes with software that you must load onto your computer.  Once you load the software, you only have to input the model numbers of the TVs, DVD players, Blu-Ray players, surround systems, and even gaming systems.  My husband took it upon himself to program our Harmony One Remote and he claims that it took him less than 10 minutes.  It wasn't long before this Harmony One Remote Control was controlling all of the electronic equipment in our basement.

I'm competent at using a computer for email, internet browsing, and online shopping, but that is pretty much where I end my claim to technology fame.  I felt like an impotent loser when I couldn't figure out how to work our new high-tech gadgets.  The Harmony One Remote Control was a fabulous solution to the whole situation.  When I now try to turn on the entertainment system, I only have to hit the "watch TV" button on the remote.  When I want to watch my favorite David Gilmour concert DVD, I simply hit "watch DVD".  My husband even has it set up for the Wii!

I've been very happy with the Harmony One Remote and would recommend it to others who are confused with 3, 4, or 5 remotes.  Once it is programmed (which was easy for us), it is intuitive to use and makes my life a whole lot simpler.  It isn't an inexpensive item, but it can be a lifesaver for those who simply cant make heads or tails of multiple remotes for their fancy systems.  I highly recommend it!

Wow - Superremote! How many gizmos can it be programmed to handle?

Yikes. That is expensive. But, I do so hate looking around for all those random remotes that end up all manner of strange places around here.
