This universal remote lives up to its hype

I was living in AV remote control hell for a long time. Remote controls (TV, receiver, DVD player, VCR, CD player, digital music player, etc.) littered my living room. My wife went as far as drawing diagrams and writing up instructions for which remotes to use when and in what sequence so that babysitters or visitors could enjoy our AV equipment.

It was annoying and frustrating. Quite often you would see "universal" remotes being sold by Radio Shack or other vendors that required hours of your time to set-up and all they would do was merge some of the functions of each remote into one unit that...

I've had basic programmable universal remotes for years, but it wasn't until I got this remote in early 2007 that I learned what a real universal remote could do. Logitech has delivered a great and affordable product that can greatly simplify your Audio/Video life.

Simple need, get them to work together!

Best of all, the girlfriend can use it without any help! Gets out of sync once in a while.

Pros: In general the remote is easy to hold with a pretty good button layout, although using it with Tivo is a bit awkward (but manageable). Programming the remote takes some time but is relatively easy. Just... read full review »

This is the first time we have purchased a universal remote that truly does everthing. From the TV to the DVR to the game system to the DVD player, the remote does it all, even down to the most detailed function. The buttons are clearly marked and intuitive. There are a minimal number of soft keys and they are easy to use. My parents are technology impaired and even they can use this remote. At around $100, the price was very reasonable. We have purchased other universal remotes in the past that were larger, more expensive and had less functionality.
