The Logitech Harmony 610 Universal Remote is very easy to program. I loved that you chose the equipment that you have online and then it is sent to your remote. From then on, you add or adjust settings from your desktop software program. The most challenging part was having to determine the input for each device. (ie. "When you watch a dvd, what input is your tv on?) I guessed and got everything right except for one item.
This remote controls 5 devices. Press a button and it turns on all the devices you need to do a certain task. Watch tv: it turns on the tv, surround sound, cable (or whatever you use). Watch dvd: it turns on the tv, dvd player, and surround sound., etc. We even lost the remote to our surround sound and now this controls it just like the original. Love it! About $65 at Walmart.
The only thing is, be sure all equipment is off to start. If something is on, then when you turn your equipment on, it will turn the device that was on off. It's still easy, just push off to start. This is still easy. Even my tech challenged husband can do it!
