Logitech G25 is the best racing wheel available

5

The Logitech G25 racing wheel and pedal set is phenomenal. It may come across as a bit pricey for a wheel and pedal set, but it is worth every penny you pay because no other experience can compare. It has superb accuracy, very strong build quality, and wide compatibility. The wheel can turn a full 900 degrees, it has a sequential 6-speed shifting gearbox, and a clutch pedal. It also features paddle shifters, standard buttons and a d-pad. The pedals all have a good amount of travel space between open and full lock which allow for precise control in many racing games. I use it mainly for Gran Turismo 5, but I have used it for many Need for Speed games in which it worked wonderfully. In games that fully support the clutch pedal, it will operate like a real clutch pedal (with the exception of 1 gear release and reverse). The G25 is portable and easy to setup. I can bolt on to a desk, table, a pre-designed racing game chair setup, or like many have done, a do-it-yourself rig setup. The G25 or it's later model the G27 will make any game racer a very happy driver.

Great wheel for racing

4

This wheel has served me for over 5 years and is still running strong. I bought it originally for Gran Turismo 4 and it's still working perfectly through Gran Turismo 5. What's great is this also works for less realistic games, such as Need For Speed. Since it is capable with the full 900 degrees from lock to lock, like a normal car, it also has the ability to change it to 180 degrees lock to lock, for games that only support that, which makes it very versatile. The only complaint I have is the pedal platform. I think they made the plastic part where your feet go too long. It forces you to sit very upright to drive the car, like a minivan, instead of allowing a much shallower angle like an actual sports car. I would think it's built for a driving simulator, where normally people have more sports oriented cars, so it would allow you to sit like you're in a sports car, unfortunately it doesn't. Another thing is the buttons to shift that are where a flappy panel would be on a normal car (not the shift lever). Since they're so small and attached to the wheel, it makes it very hard to shift when turning the wheel more than 90 degrees in one direction or another. Other than that, everything is great. Pedal accuracy is great, steering angle is great. A few minor things could be tweaked, but other than that, a great wheel I love and use all the time playing Gran Turismo. Times are definitely faster using the wheel over the controller as well.

Great wheel to play with

5

I have played gran turismo with the dualshock ps3 controller and although the dualshock, make no mistake, is a solid performing controller, I think the vast majority of people prefer a logitech driving force wheel when playing a racing game as intense as gran turismo 5. It feels a lot more like racing when you have a wheel in your hands. The wheel allows you to steer, and change gears, much like one would do when inside a car. With a controller you don't get that vibe since everything is done on a rectangular little controller. The GT wheel is a bit pricey though but i think it's well worth the price. The leather-like material on the wheel and on the shifter is excellent. It's very soft and also sturdy at the same time. The build quality is great.

Logitech Driving Force GT Wheel is the best wheel

4

I generally like this product. Itis great because I do beileive that this make the game seem more realistic, and makes it feel that you're actualy behind the wheel of a car because you are infact using a sort of steering mechanism. The product is accurate in all of the racing games I have associated and used with this product. It definitely makes the game seem more fun that it actualy is, and I do beileive that this does enhance the gaming expeirience beacause this product make the racing game you're playing more fun. In retrospect this is a good product because you actauly get to steer instead of constantly flicking joysticks in order to succeed in the racing games you play. This make s the game better and does have a better feeling. The one thing that I don't like about this product is that it has to be in your lap while in use or on a table but that means you will be constantly leaning over to play a racing game. Otherwise than that this is an excellent product.

Best value in steering wheel controllers

5

This wheel is great. It's not the best wheel available, but for the price there's no contest. The wheel works in almost every driving game available on the PS2 and PS3, and most of them on the PC, too. Some of the features don't work on PS2/3 games, though. 900-degree steering, and the horn, dial, and rocker buttons are only available in games that enable them. A few PS2 games work with 900-degree steering, but none of them use the extra buttons. The pedals feel good, but they're probably the weakest part of the package. They're a little weak, but it's great how the brake pedal has a non-linear resistance just like a real brake. One thing I miss from the other Driving Force and Speed Force wheels I've used are the analog paddles on the back-- the GT only has digital buttons there. So you pretty much have to have the pedals connected to use this wheel at all. The force feedback is greatly improved over the other, older Logitech wheels. If you've used one of the older wheels, there's almost no comparison. It's still a little loud (play with headphones!), but the feedback is so much smoother and less mechanical feeling than before. You should consider the Driving Force Wireless if you're a casual player just looking to have a little more fun with your racing games, but if you need something better, the Driving Force GT is the best compromise between quality and price.

makes driving better

5

If you are playing simulation based games this is an asset that you need to have. Games like gran Turismo is greatly enhanced with the Logitech Driving Force GT Wheel. You feel like you are really driving. What's better, hitting the arrow keys to move along or using a wheel to steer your automobile? That's a no brainer. I have played this driving force GT wheel from logitech in a number of games and I have to say that it does decrease my lap times. In addition, I have a lot of fun. When my buddies come over they always tell me to take out the Driving Force GT wheel because none of them want to use the controller. The bad thing is that this wheel from Logitech is expensive. but, you gotta pay to play as they say. The wheel is in a very nice finish and looks very professional and very racy. It is mostly black. I find the wheel to be very comfortable and fits my hands really well. I recommend a microfilter wash cloth to wipe off sweat and other things that can accumulate over time on the wheel.

Surprisingly difficult to play with

3

Perhaps I'm just used to driving an actual car with a steering wheel, and playing racing games with keyboards or game pads, but I didn't expect using this wheel to be this difficult.  The wheel has force feedback, so there is resistance in the wheel when you try to turn, much like the newer cars today [I still prefer the lighter steering of the cars from yesteryear].  However, when you lose grip in game, the force feedback disappears or even goes in the opposite direction, and I think without a simulated seat, the lack of coordination between the wheel feedback and a nonexistent seat feel [think of the G force you feel in the seat of your car when turning a corner] makes for a confusing experience.  When the wheel gives force feedback I instantly lose track of what is going on and I don't even know how to respond or countersteer.  Something about the timing of the feedback just feels unnatural.  I'll try practicing with it some more, but I'm not sure I'll get too far with this.

Pretty good entry level racing wheel.

The Logitech wheel serves its purpose and is a pretty good wheel.  The wheel feels solid and is much better than the control for not only simulating driving but with much more precise movements. This will take time getting use to on my part as I usually use game controllers.   The wheels buttons are also decently laid out and have plenty of options. There is also a nice tuning wheel included where the user can tune their GT5 cars on the fly.  Controller buttons are well placed and easy to access.  Hidden paddle shifter buttons are also behind the wheel.  As for the stick shift, i wasn't too happy with its inclusion. Its awkwardly close to the wheel and only moves in two directions.  The pedals are fairly decent but I sometimes end up moving it a little despite using it on carpet. The pedal apparatus also comes with extend-able carpet grabbers but perhaps I just have big feet.  I found that my left foot could be used pretty well keep this thing down if it starts to move.   In Summary, this is a very well made entry level wheel and will probably be the best bet for most people on a budget.  Happy racing!

the best wheel

5

The Logitech Driving Force GT Wheel really allows you to immerse yourself into a racing video game. I bought this one specifically for Gran Turismo 5 for the Playstation 3. Set up and installation was simple, and although the loading times of Gran Turismo 5 were lonnnngggg... the wheel ran smoothly with the game. Advantages include the force feedback ability of the wheel: it makes you feel as if you're driving at 150+ miles per hour and the feedback makes the experience very realistic. Drawbacks include a simplistic shifter. Either shift up or down, but there's no clutch.

It definitely beats using the controller for the game anyday. I would recommend this product to anyone purchasing Gran Turismo 5 because it definitely makes the game much better and the replayability much higher. Overall satisfied. =)
