Begrudgingly, I finally have up on my old worn-out keyboard, and accepted the The Logitech Access Keyboard from a friend as a birthday present. To be sure, I was glad to be getting this new keyboard, but me and the old one had a lot of memories together. Now I was being thrust into the technological age of the 21st Century whether I liked it or not. Well I do like it, and I am glad that I was given this gift, because not only has it helped out my typing, but the mere appearance of this sleek new keyboard probably raised the value of my desk hundreds of dollars. Or maybe that is just what I wished after seeing how good it looked. Regardless of value though, this keyboard as been very helpful to me, and I find it much more enjoyable to type with a fully-functioning keyboard.

The Logitech Access Keyboard came in a nice gray color, with the normal set-up with the letter, number and additional keys surrounding said letters. At the top left of the keyboard, we have a few of the extra buttons, starting first with the User and F-Lock buttons. The User button allows you to Fast-user switching for Windows XP. This is helpful to a lot of people using many different programs at one time. The F-Lock key is self-explanatory, and used to lock down the F keys by their spefic functions. When the F Keys are not locked, they actually pertain to different functions with this keyboard. What it does is give you quick access to other devices and files that are on your computer. For instance, pressing F9 will load up "My Computer", while pressing F10 will load up "My Documents". This can be really helpful, because then you don't have to minimize windows or have direct access to the desk-top while you are working on applications.

Above the F-Keys, we have, from left to right, an e-mail button, A Messenger/SMS button, a webcam button, a Cursor for the media button next to it, a "My Home" button, and finally a Search button. Each one of these buttons is self-explanatory, and accesses a different program on your computer. This cuts down on a lot of leg work and having to search around for specific files that you just can't seem to remember putting somewhere. For me, I am constantly opening file after file, and it is very beneficial to me to have a single button that I can press and access documents, files, or pictures that I want to use in any of my applications. The keyboard really has made my life a whole lot easier with those aspects.

Besides helping save time loading programs, and locating files, the keyboard is also very easy to use while typing. The keys work with a simple pressing mode, that does not require you to press very hard in order to get a response. What this allows, is for you to spend less time on the keys, and therefore speeding up your words per minute being types. When I am writing, I can tell you, that this saves me a lot of time, and is less of a hassle to type more than one review in a single sitting. The keyboard also comes with a "wrist-rest" that hooks up to the front of the keyboard, and gives you an area to sit your wrists on. I don't use this, because I am one of those people that doesn't actually put their wrists down on the table when I am typing. Call me weird, but I like being able to move my hands around quickly without having to drag them across the keyboard. It works for me, and that is really all that matters.

As with all keyboards, this one comes with extensions on the back to raise the keyboard up to what might be your preference in height. I also keep those retracted simply because it is easier for me to type like this without any bells or whistles. Combining the Logitech Access Keyboard with the Mouse that they also produce, makes computing so much more easy than I had thought possible. The responsive keys are the best part of the keyboard, but they also give you a 3-year hardware warranty with the product just in case something foes wrong with it. It's slogan of "get more done, more easily" really is true, because of just how easy this keyboard is to use. I highly recommend this one to anyone who uses multiple programs, likes to be able to type fast, or simply wants a keyboard that is easier to use than anything you have used before.

This sounds really nice. I've got some Best Buy gift cards from Father's Day. Can't decide whether to buy peripherals like this, or make the move from XP to Vista. You've given me something to think about!
