Okay I got grandma's old cast iron but she failed to tell me don't put in in the dishwasher. Needless to say her old pan was never the same no matter how I tried to reseason the thing. I was sick because it was a great old skillet. So watching Ametica's Test Kitchen they were reviewing pre seasoned cast iron and strongly suggested the skillets from Lodge. So I went to Amazon and bought a skillet and lid. While not exactly like grandma's it was the closes I could ever remember. Once again I could make crispy homefries. Once again I could use the metal spatula and not worry about scratching the ckillet. Once again I could make the awesome crispy french toast I remember from the old skillet. While pre seasoned it does take a dozen or so times to really get the finish such that food really starts to cook great. So don't give up it take some useage but not decades like the old unseasoned cast iron you pick up for $8 at Walmart.
