Loctite Super Glue - Gel Control Review

No homeowner's shop is complete without a little bottle of cyanoacrylate.  What?  Okay, call it Crazy Glue, Super Glue or Wonder Glue.  Most homeowners usually keep a tube or bottle of it around the house.

Cyanoacrylate glues are offered by any number of companies.  My favorite is Loctite's Super Glue Gel Control.

Most of these types of adhesives work in pretty much the same fashion.  Put a drop or two on something that's broken, stick it back together and in about 60 seconds you have a bond that has set up.  The bond continues to strengthen over the next several hours.

Some of these glues are thin liquids.  Loctite Super Glue - Gel Control is as the name would suggest a gel.  It's a little easier using gels, particularly on vertical surfaces.  But again, pretty much all manufacturers now offer gels.

The Difference

What distinguishes Loctite Super Glue - Gel Control is not the glue at all.  It's the bottle/applicator it comes in.  It keeps the Super Glue fresh and ready to use even when stored for a prolonged period.

I can't tell you how many times in the past I've reached for my super glue only to find the tube or bottle as hard as a rock.  With Loctite Super Glue - Gel Control, somehow this manufacturer has figured out a way to keep the glue fresh.

To use, you simply unscrew the cap, direct the tip to where you want it, then squeeze the blue "fins" on the bottle's side.  Each time you squeeze the fins you receive a small dollop of adhesive.  Replace the cap and put your glue away.  It'll be ready for you in a month or several months.  I like that.

My Viewpoint

No DIYer would be caught without his or her super glue.  But when you need it, it's really good when it's fresh and ready to use.  With Loctite Super Glue - Gel Control, that's exactly what you can expect.  I recommend it.
