Worthy Website and Worthy Cause

5

This is a great website that advocates for a wonderful cause. The website is centered around donations of hair to make wigs for children with medical problems causing hair loss. The website is beautiful and has a lot of great features. You can donate hair or money. You can also plan events that benefit the organization off of the website. It also has items like bears and jewelry you can purchase and the money goes towards the cause. I highly recommend spending some time on this website. It is a great website. Ease of Use It is well organized. It features multiple categories and is very easy to navigate through. Product Selection There is not a lot of products featured on this website. it is more about the cause. There are a few things you can purchase that contribute to the cause. Product Pricing The money goes toward helping medically disadvantaged children. The prices are great and you know your money is going towards a great cause.

Amazing Charity

5

This is a great charity organization and I think their website really helps spread the message well. There are a lot of great tools on their site for raising money and also links you can paste on your own personal website. There is a really well designed shop that when you purchase items it will donate money to the organization. This shop has items that mostly women and children would like. There are also some really inspiring pictures about what kind of wigs they have been able to provide children with alopecia or other conditions causing them to lose their hair. Ease of Use The site is super easy to use. It has a fun layout with a lot of information presented in a very simple manner. It states their goals and the organization's purpose right upfront. The shop is laid out well and you know what will get donated and you know who it will help. There are a lot of great links on the page that will help raise money and you can also sign up to be a volunteer or a participant. I love the banner feature that you can copy and paste on your own site if you are a hair salon. Product Selection Again there are only several items you can purchase, it isn't about the selection, it's about supporting the cause. There are however a lot of really cool items you can give as gifts or keep to yourself. They are more geared towards women though so keep that in mind when shopping for anything on the site. Product Pricing There is no cost to donate. You can however purchase goods and a portion of the proceeds will also be donated. Because of this, some of the items they are selling have very inflated prices however that's the way charity works. If you can't afford to purchase an item you can donate money on their page. Customer Service This is a non profit organization and most people who participate are volunteers. They believe in a good cause and they give it their all. Shipping and Returns I don't believe this category is applicable. You are donating your hair not purchasing anything.

This is a great program to help those that are suffering.

You may love your hair, it may be absolutely stunning and reach all the way down to your waist. Would you ever want to cut it? Probably not....but consider for a moment if you couldn't grow any hair. Consider if you were sick and all your hair fell out. Consider if the day came and you could never grow another lock of beautiful hair. Consider all this for a moment and think what you would want someone with hair like yours to do. You would probably want what locks of love delivers. Locks of love is a program that has people who care for there hair in certain ways to cut it and provide it to locks of love and they will make it into wigs for those unfortunate souls who can not grow the hair that you take for granted. So keep your hair clean and fresh, don't use harsh chemical treatments (no coloring), don't use harsh treatments like hot curlers or flattening irons; basically keep your hair fresh and natural. When the length you need is attained (usually over 12 inches), cut off that beautiful hair and mail it off to locks of love so they can use your hair to make someones dream come true. This is an amazing program that changes lives every day....give your hair and save a dream! Locks of Love is an amazing website that helps those in desperate need to look their best when they feel their worst. Anyone with long natural hair should consider this website. I donated my hair when I had to cut my long hair due to illness. So in a way I was able to help other sick people even when I was sick. Consider the scenario I have outlined, what would you want in that situation. Give to Locks Of Love and Support the website that is there to help poor unfortunate people. Do like I did and give your beautiful locks to love someone else!

Tired of long hair?

5

I have been a regular contributor to this much needed non profit half my life. Monetarily there isn't much I can do to help others but as of right now I can still grow hair. Many salons are supporters of this organization. If unsure please ask your stylist. Donations are recommended to be a minimum of 10" and must be in a braid or ponytail before cutting. I do know they cannot accept bleached hair or dreadlocks but they can use colored or permed hair. These donations are made into hair pieces for children suffering hair loss such a alopecia or chemo and radiation. These are custom made for each individual and retail between $3500-6000 each. A child is eligible for replacements every 18 months. They are always in need of hair and monetary donations. They are either given to the patient free in many cases or a sliding scale based on income I think. My last donation was 40" . Please check out their website on how you can mail in your donation if your salon is not participating. Next time you are going for a makeover please keep them in mind if you are going to cut it off. God bless!

For a Good Cause

I regularly donate my hair to Locks of Love. I love having long hair, but alternate having it long and short. When my hair gets halfway past my back, I get tired of the length and decided I want it short. Since it is over the 10" required to donate, I donate to Locks of Love. Their website has great information for anyone looking to donate but don't know much about it. It lists the requirements to donate and frequently asked questions. You can download a hair donation form directly from the website, fill it out, and send in your donation. You can also send cash if you choose to do so. If you have any questions about the program, there is a contact form available with information to contact someone with Locks of Love. The website makes the entire process so much easier. There is also information about people who use the donations and their back story. There are links that you can go to to nominate a child in need to receive a donation. Overall, Locks of Love is not hard to do and doesn't have to cost you anything except for a hair cut, which you already needed anyway!

There are better options out there for donating hair

2

Locks of Love has a noble mission -- it allows everyone to donate hair toward the creation of wigs for children who need wigs (usually for medical reasons, such as disorders or hair loss from chemotherapy). The site features photos and stories of children wearing their new wigs, as well as before/after photos of donors who give up their hair. Years ago, there was also a salon locator that would allow one to search for local barbers and hair salons that knew how to cut the donated hair according to LoL's specifications, which is convenient for anyone who doesn't want to cut their own hair. Yes, there are restrictions for what types of hair are usable, which makes sense. I donated my hair to Locks of Love twice. The first time, I received acknowledgement about 8 months later acknowledging my donation had been received. The second time, I never heard from them at all. It made me wonder if my hair had actually been donated. I understand they probably have limited staff to receive and respond to donations, but I would feel more secure giving up my hair if I know exactly where it's going. They may be making profit off it instead.

Better Options exist for hair donation.

LocksofLove.org is on a noble mission, providing wigs to children who have lost their hair. LocksofLove.org is brightly colored, and very appealing to the eye. The website is very user friendly, it has a very easy to use FAQs site, as well as a video you can watch which explains the whole process of how to donate. The requirements are very simple and clearly laid out on LocksofLove.org. The biggest problem, which you will find as you dig around on the website, is that the majority of hair they receive is sold to other companies to make wigs. The hair donation requirement is also ten inches, which is much longer than other similar sites. Also the wigs that they give to children are very difficult to qualify for. So while the website does get points for ease of use, and simplistic style, as well as adorable pictures of children, it looses a lot of points for difficulty of obtaining a wig, misrepresentation of what they do with donated hair, and for having competition doing similar things in a better way.

Awesome Charity with a fantastic website!

Locks of love has come a long way! When I was young, you had to visit a salon that participated in the program in order to donate your hair. Now they have this fantastic website, so no matter where you get your hair cut (or even if you cut it at home yourself) you can donate your hair to Locks Of Love! The site details everything you need to do in order to make a donation. It explains all the requirements, what kinds of hair they will and will not accept and how to go about cutting your hair to make the donation. They have a PDF form that you can download, but the site also states that if you have trouble printing the form you can just write your name and address on a piece of paper and include it with your donation. They do everything they can to make donating as simple as possible. In addition, the site also includes pictures of kids who have been helped by Locks of Love and information on the diseases that these children suffer from. This is a great charity with a great website! I have donated several times and when my daughter gets her first hair cut we will be donating her hair as well!

Got spare hair? Give it to Locks of Love!

**Locks of Love may be able to use your spare hair to help a child.  ** **About the Website: ** This is the Locks of Love website. It has beautiful pictures and a short instructional video explaining how to properly cut and donate hair. The FAQ section covers numerous questions you may have regarding this great program. It provides helpful information for those who wish to donate or become recipients of Locks of Love. They also have a form to print and send in with the hair donation. The website lists the address to which you need to send the donation as well. **About Locks of Love: ** Locks of Love is a non-profit organization that does not have any affiliation with religion or politics. Their mission is to provide children who have alopecia, hair loss, with a high quality hairpiece for free or on a sliding scale.  As a cancer nurse, I see people of various ages who have alopecia on a regular basis. I don't notice that they do not have hair. What makes a person beautiful to me is their character. Most of my patients' hair loss is temporary, but their hair may return a different color, texture or even curly when they previously had straight hair. Before and after pictures show children who are beautiful without and with their hairpieces. I can see where these hairpieces can give them a boost of confidence and will help them to better fit in with their peers. People may think that all hair recipients have cancer. Some do, but most have a condition called alopecia areata, an autoimmune disease causing loss of hair on the scalp and elsewhere. Others may have severe burns or trauma or other genetic and dermatological conditions. You may think that your hair is too thin to make a hairpiece. Don't worry! Six to ten ponytails go into one hairpiece. Locks of Love provides vacuum-fit, custom hairpieces for girls and boys with permanent hair loss between the ages of 6 and 18 who apply and are accepted into this program. Retail price of a comparable hairpiece runs $3500-6000. Younger children accepted in this program experience rapid growth and receive synthetic hairpieces. Children experiencing short-term hair loss who are accepted in this program also receive synthetic hairpieces. Locks of Love can produce a hairpiece for about $1000. Monetary donations are always welcome and are tax deductible. Donations of gray hair or clean hair shorter than 10 inches will go toward offsetting their costs. Here are a few examples of what types of hair they accept:--clean and dry--in a braid or ponytail--recently cut hair or hair that was cut years ago and stored in a polytail or braid--straight or curly--all one length or layered Here are a few examples of hair Locks of Love cannot accept:--dirty hair--hair that is not in a polytail or braid--hair that has been swept off the floor--bleached or highlighted hair--dreadlocks **My personal experience: ** I've donated my hair to this great organization three times. My husband's uncle also donated his hair. I've heard of other children who have donated their hair as well. It's easy. You get to sport a new 'do and it takes a lot less time to wash shorter hair once you've donated! **My Viewpoint:**This website tells you everything you need to know if you wish to donate hair or money to Locks of Love. It's a great organization for a great cause.
