Live Free or Die Hard Review Summary

Live Free or Die Hard has all we have come to expect from a Die Hard film, yet it has a little different pace. For a "good twist on the series," Bruce Willis' streets smarts are paired up with the "relative innocence of Justin Long (voice of Alvin in Alvin and the Chipmunks) as the computer geek" that Willis is assigned to bring in. "Thrill a minute action and edge of your seat excitement follows" Willis in his mission. While most Viewpoints reviewers find that Live Free or Die Hard has more "action thrills, and violence" than the other Die Hard films, some feel it just doesn't compare to the previous three films. All agree it's "great to see Bruce Willis back in the saddle again."

In the weeks leading up to the first Die Hard movie in twelve years, star Bruce Willis has been interviewed just about everywhere (including Second Life), saying that Live Free or Die Hard is the best film in the revered action franchise since the first one. Intro — My husband and I have seen all the Die Hard movies, and even though it's been nearly twenty years since the first one, and surely Bruce Willis and his character John McClane have slowed down a little, so have we. The latest installment, Live Free or Die Hard has all we have come to expect from a Die Hard film, yet it has a little different pace, and McLane shares his heroism with another. Then again, they're fighting a completely different enemy. — — Plot — John McClane is called to pick up a suspect and bring him to the F.B.I. headquarters in Washington,… read full review »

When I got an instant message wondering if I'd like to tag along to see the first showing of "Live Free or Die Hard", I jumped at the chance. Literally. I had extremely high expectations for this movie, considering the past 3 have turned into classics. The plot is something along the lines of Detective John McCLane is sent to pick up a hacker, on the FBI's most wanted list, for questioning, when things suddenly turn bad. He's pitted against an internet based terrorist organization who's trying to trying to cause havoc in the United States by using their technology against them. — I… read full review »

LIVE FREE or DIE Hard starring Bruce Willis, and directed by Len Wisemen, which was originally released as LIVE FREE 4.0 in Europe, was one of 2007's best action movies.  With plenty of hand made action scenes, and a story line that made sense, I was pleasantly surprised to see how good this movie turned out, but very disappointed to see that it didn't do as well as expected at the Box Office. — If you haven't seen LIVE FREE or DIE HARD yet, it's worth buying the DVD, or at least renting it from Blockbuster. —… read full review »

Another one of those movies I was drug to kicking and screaming. Well let me just tell you all right now I loved every darn unbelievable bang up, blow it up, knock down, drag out, second of this film.  The action never stops and you never get to catch your breath. I am one of those women who likes action and man did this sucker deliver. I really like Bruce Willis and he is aging gracefully and is so believable as the character he portrays. Needless to say it's over the top and everything an action flick should be.  See it, it's worth… read full review »

It was great to see Bruce WIllis back in the saddle again.  I really feel that this is the kind of film he shines in.  I am a action movie fan.  I really enjoyed this move and I would go and see it again.  There are certain actors who play the cop with a sense of humor.  I really don't remember who the actress was that got the part of his daughter but I feel that she was a good match.  She brought alot of  energy to her character and to the movie. —… read full review »

Of all the Die hard movies, this one had to be the greatest for action and unusual twists to the plot. I really admire unusual story plots, and lots of great action.  Bruce Willis has got to be one of the best for hard action that is believable.  I have watched the Die Hard series a number of times and have never really grown tired of them.  Was so glad when i was treated to this new one though, because he is such a good actor.  But I do believe having the computer to do so much of the special effects can really enhance shots like the freeway ride....that was totally… read full review »

It is not hard to say that Bruce Willis has never let his fans down when it comes to packing in the action on the screen.  I think however, that Mr. Willis has gone above and beyond in Live Free or Die Hard.  First of all, the superior cast that was put together for this movie is phenomenal.  Everyone member of the cast certainly complements each other.  The story line is one that keeps you waiting for more and virtually on the edge of your seat.  And, as usual, Bruce Willis comes through with his extreme talent for saving the day and making the bad guys go… read full review »

This is the most exciting and most action packed movie of the Die Hard series. John McClain (Bruce Willis) is assigned the simple task of bringing a hacker to Washington from New Jersey when everything goes bad. Some mysterious group has contracted hackers to unwittingly contribute to a masterful plot to hold the government up for major ransom and has decided to remove all loose ends including the hacker Bruce is assigned to deliver. Thrill a minute action and edge of your seat excitement follows Bruce in his mission, first to protect the life of the hacker and then to bring down the… read full review »

You killed a helicopter with a car!  Yeah, I ran out of bullets.  Thse lines say it all.  This movie is full of great one liners because of great action sequences.  Bruce Willis is cut up from the get go and keeps going no matter what.  Good looking and smart group of bad guys.....everything you need for a Die Hard adventure.  — The story was believabe and fast paced.  There were so many twists and turns on both sides, just like you'd expect from a Die Hard movie.  The action was high tech and believable.  They'd run and duck and get away,… read full review »

Often sequels get worse and worse as the numbers get higher but not in the case.  The 12 year break didn't matter at all and the action, stunts and special effects were awesome.  In my opinion, the fourth installment to the Die Hard series was the best of them all.  Bruce Willis does a great job wth his sidekick Justin Long.  — In fact, it was so great that it inspired my family to spend the day doing a Die Hard marathon watching all 4 movies in a row.  What a great time that was. The DVD is great because you can watch the theatrical… read full review »

It is a movie of amazing, hold your breath action. Hopefully very unrealistic in terms of what people do to get those against them. I enjoyed the one liners and the street smarts of Bruce Willis in comparison to the relative innocence of Justin Long as the computer geek. The pairing of those two was a good twist on the series. There was some formula, save the girl kind of plotline with good guys vs bad guys but it kept our interest all the way through. Not boring but not complicated. — — If you like action and you like Bruce Willis it is a good movie to see! — —… read full review »

When it comes to sequels, you almost always expect the last one to be a waste of money and time. It is usually tired and overdone. However, in the case of this movie, I think they totally delivered. I liked this one better than all of the other Die Hard movies. They embrace his age, yet still make it believable ( for the most part ). The action is great, and they still give you that bit a comedy relief. I would recommend this movie to anyone who likes action films. All sequels should be this good, especially if you are going to try.… read full review »

Who woulda thunk that Bruce Willis could keep this series going after such a long time? And he did a great job, too. Granted, the stunts were a bit over-the-top (throwing a car at a helicopter), but that was part of it's charm. The plot was fun, the acting was very good, and the explosions were big and shiny. I liked Mclean's daughter as well. She was spunky and fun. The villian was great, too -- although it was weird to see him out of Deadwood. — — Another fun Saturday Night blow-stuff-up film! —… read full review »
