    Great Action, Bruce Willis

Can America thwart an attempt on the security of terrorists who use computers to launch an attack on the very heart of our country. John McClane (Bruce Willis) is sent to round up a known hacker Matthew Farrell (Justin Long) to try and find out what is going on with a breach in the FBI's computer system. As he reaches Farrell so do the terrorists and the game is on. Somehow they have rigged the hackers computer to explode if he tries to stop an attack they launched on his computer and in the middle of a gunfight with McClane and the assassins the bomb is triggered.

This sets off the story here as McClane tries to keep the hacker alive as other hackers are sought out and killed. The terrorists led by Thomas Gabriel (Timothy Olyphant) and Mai Linh(Maggie Q)have control of everything including the traffic light system and police radios and lo-jack trackers on all the police cars in New York City. The action is intense once again as McClane tries to do his job and deliver the hacker.

Deputy FBI Director Bowman(Cliff Curtis) is trying to get a handle on things but has he been told everything. His office is besieged with chaos as Special agents are sent to get to the bottom of things. McClane makes it to Washington D.C. and is told to take Farrell to be interrogated to find out what he knows so they can stop the attacks.

What are they after here?

Are they after the money, power or is it something more sinister such as control over weapons such as Nuclear Bombs? While transporting Farrell they are attacked by gunmen in a helicopter. After going in a tunnel to escape the chopper they become trapped as the terrorists manipulate traffic both ways into that very tunnel. The terrorists have taken over everything from police communications, traffic lights and even Wallstreet. Can McClane stop all this mayhem. How does he even find the people responsible? Hell can he even keep the hacker alive with all the people that are trying to kill him.

My Viewpoint

This movie starts with action and it doesn't stop til the very end and I won't spoil that for those that have not seen this one yet. If you are into action flicks and especially ones with Bruce Willis you will not go away disappointed here folks. There are plenty of gun battles with automatic weapons, car stunts and more for those hungry for explosive action.

Some is a little far fetched but then again what flick in the Die Hard Series wasn't at some point? One small discrepancy I found was when McClane was chasing the terrorists and said they were on 695 in Baltimore. That's fine but what they showed was a double decker roadway they were on. Well 695 is an Interstate and it is not built like that, okay so I am being picky here but facts is facts. Other than that I really enjoyed this movie and don't know why I waited so long. Oh yes...I remember now...I waited to get it on DVD so I could see all the good stuff. The DVD has a choice of the Theatrical Version or the Unrated Version. I opted for the Unrated as I wanted to enjoy everything and I did just that.

Bottom Line

This will fit in nicely with my other Die Hard DVD's and I will watch it again. Anyone that has not seen this needs to get going and either buy the DVD or go rent it. Is this movie all that far fetched or did they go too far? With everything being controlled by computer these days it may not be totally out of range. I am sure that it would never go this far but it does make one wonder and thats what makes the movie so intense. Between the computer hacking and guns blazing it will keep you glued to your seat.

Thanks Bob, I also thought it wouldn't be very good as Bruce is getting up there in years but I was surprised. ;)

Ah, but that's the beauty of a good thriller -- you know it's just a movie and you're "...sure it would never go this far but it does make one wonder ..."! This film sounds great -- I loved all the Die Hard movies I've seen and the sequels seemed to continue the momentum.
