Little Miss Sunshine  —

Who did not love Little Miss Sunshine? I LOVED THIS MOVIE! I laughed so hard I cried.

Quick storyline:
Olive is a sweet, innocent little girl that lives with a messed up family.  Olive becomes a regional finalist in the Little Miss Sunshine beauty pageant, and her immediate and extended family pulls together to travel from New Mexico to California for the pageant. Their encounters along the way-- broken down car, Grandpa gets sick, etc all made me laugh so hard I cried. If you enjoy movies about broken-down family dynamics you will laugh till the cows come home!

Here is a snapshot of her family:
1. Dad is a struggling motivational speaker and Mom is challenged managing family finances-- and not quite certain she still loves Dad.

2. Her brother adds more complexity to the family as he desires to be a fighter pilot, spending every waking moment trying to prepare himself for that physical and mental challenge.

3. Her Grandpa (Alan Arkin), is among my favorite characters. He is a drug addict who got kicked out of nursing home.

4. Ah... and Uncle Frank. He just tried to commit suicide when his "boyfriend" decided to start a relationship with his main rival in the academic world.

If you havent seen this movie, rent it!!! It will have you laughing for days!!! I am laughing just writing about it. :)

Great review.Definately one of the best "underdog" movies. Love the crazy grandpa.

I love this movie. It's not easy for something to immediately jump into my top 5 or 10 all time movies, but this did from the first time I saw it.

I love this movie. I have a friend who does the VW sound effects perfectly. It always makes us laugh.

I adored this movie! I watched it with a good friend not long after my separation, and it was the first time I truly enjoyed myself in months. The way the family pulled together out of love was so encouraging, despite their "broken-down dynamics". I'll always remember this movie for giving me a big laugh when I needed it most.
