a little over the edge, some think too exaggerated

While I love comedies, I didn't think this movie fit the bill. I was quite surprised that it came up for academy awards. I didn't think the characters were real. I hate beauty pagents, but that is not the reason why I didn't like the movie. The whole thing just seemed disconnected. Although it was supposedly about this little girl doing her thing in the pagent (even though you're lead to believe that she'd never make it), everyone was doing their own things. They all seemed disconnected.
