We've actually got 2 Mega units -- one in the laundry room and one on our screen patio.  The one on the patio was used one time by 3 little kittens--one of which has "adopted" us and has become a part of our household.

Our problems with the 2 units is that we have 3 cats at most inside the house at one time.  The male kitten has grown a bit to sometimes go outside during the day as well as the second female cat.  That leaves an older male cat inside at all times.  The problem has come from this older male -- while we keep both littler boxes clean, emptying the litter trays several times weekly, he's developed a very BAD HABIT!

The bad habit:  he's P-O-O-P-I-N-G on our white carpet all throughout the dining room.  A friend suggested aluminum foil to distract him from pooping there -- now I have about 14 ft. of foil -- yes I do!  We know he is not happy with the second male kitten.

My hubby thought something was wrong with the littermaid -- well actually we seem to have several issues with its performance as the one on the patio now is not working electrically -- I honestly did not know that you could use batteries but I see from just checking the battery compartment that it would require lots of batteries to run.

It's a thankless job to CLEAN the unit and I've only gotten the hubby to handle that chore a couple of times when he's not golfing.  We reuse the plastic containers which could be an issue for making the cat unhappy.

I've still got the hooded litterbox up in the attic--may have to get it back out.
