While shopping at Costco, I saw a new cat litter that I hadn't seen before, and noting that it advertised itself as being all-natural, I decided to give it a try. The price of $6.99 for the 30-pound container sure didn't hurt either, as that is a pretty good price when you are purchasing a clumping litter. The packaging itself is a large green jug with a thick handle on the top, enclose with a nice large blue lid on the spout to the container. It's easy to carry around (despite the weight), and even easier to pour when it comes to setting out the litter. Directions are also included on the side of the container if you want to make sure that you get the best results possible from this litter.
Litter Purrfect seems to be sold primarily on the promise of being a litter "straight from nature", and advertises that is is made with herbal odor control. The ingredients listed on the side state that it is made with 100% natural clay, baking soda, and natural lemongrass essence. I made a mistake when I purchased the litter, because I ran with the assumption that the litter would give off a lemon aroma, or that it would smell like lemon when it got used. Neither was the case, but I guess I only have myself to blame, because the lemon essence isn't really anything other than an agent I guess for covering up bad odors in the box. It would be easier to say that the litter doesn't really smell like anything much right out of the container, so don't be as fooled as I was.
Pouring the litter into my cat boxes for the first time, I was pleased that it didn't give off a lot of dust, making it easy to breathe around the boxes when I was filling and re-filling them. The container instructs using about 3 inches of the litter per box, which gives your cats plenty of room when it comes to burying their waste. The granules for the litter are also relatively small, so the cats aren't going to have problems hurting their toes, and I tend to think that the smaller the pieces of litter are, the less likely it is to end up all over the floor. The granules work pretty well at clumping around the waste, and it wasn't too difficult to scoop, but the litter didn't do too much with odors that the cats left behind.
The litter was pretty easy to use, and wasn't too difficult to either work with or clean out of the box. With three cats in the house though, I usually need a litter that can deal well with odors, or at least mask the odors until I can deal with the used litter. This litter didn't deal with odors that well, but I guess that if you have one cat, and it is sifted properly, that the litter could be a good (and inexpensive) option for cat owners. As it is, I don't think I will purchase it again, as it didn't completely fulfill my needs, but I still find myself recommending it to anyone that needs a cheap option, and just needs it for a single-cat household.
