I purchased my Lite On Dvd Writer at Walmart for a fairly reasonable price. It has been about 3 years since this purchase so of course there are faster writers on the market today. However, I have had nothing but the best service from this writer.

It is dual layer compatable which is a huge plus. The blank, dual sided, discs are rather pricey still but it's worth it as you can burn twice the amount of data on one disc.

Recently I had a small problem with a disc I was using. It was sent to me in the mail with a product I purchased over eBay. It came damaged, with a small crack at the outer edge of the disc. I was very cautious about trying to use it at all but the disc contained the drivers for the hardware that I purchase. I gave it a shot and to my surprise the Lite On Dvd Writer was actually able to read the disc.

However, I soon had a larger problem. While playing back the disc I hear a loud bang inside my tower and I thought for sure I had blown a cylinder on my mother board or one of my exhaust fans had died on me. It was actually the broken cd in my writer!!! I thought for sure that the writer was done for. It broke off the piece of cracked cd. I put a new blank disc in and proceeded to burn an audio cd. It still worked!!! The piece of cd that broke off is still lodged inside somewhere but it still works perfectly.

I was very impressed and would recommend this brand to anyone looking for superior quality at a discounted price.
