Quick View: I am a big tea and diet cola drinker and, thus, my teeth get stained. I hate that! I have been using teeth whitening toothpaste and teeth whitening rinse with decent results but I wanted more, more, more. I saw a review of Listerine Whitening Quick Dissolving Strips, Clean Mint on the net and the person was raving about them so, I was off to try them myself. Well...I'm not raving but these do have advantages over other strips. I don't think they whiten as well though.
About Listerine Whitening Quick Dissolving Strips, Clean Mint
These strips come in a box of 56 individually wrapped stripes. They are to be used twice a day on top and bottom teeth. The big selling point is that they dissolve and supposedly leave you with clean, fresh teeth and better breath. Well....they dissolve. The rest, not so much.
The strips are almost invisible inside their foil wraps. It's hard as heck to find them in there. They are sticky on one side and super thin. I ripped several already because they tangle and twist if I am not very, very careful. They are to be applied to the teeth and wrapped under them like any strip. When applied right, they are super thin and I don't drool or have to keep my mouth open or any of that. The taste is ewww. Not minty fresh. More like peroxide which is the exact ingredient that is supposed to make your teeth whiter.
They do dissolve after about 10-15 minutes. They slowly just go away. But my breath stinks after because of the odor and taste of the strips so brushing is a must. I also note some little white pieces of "stuff" between my teeth after the strips dissolve. Still, these are much more convenient than trays and even Crest Whitestrips which are gel filled. But the results, for me, are very average. I think people who don't have a tea and cola fetish will get much more benefit from these than I did. My stains are tough and with just hydrogen peroxide to whiten, they remove slight surface stains but I saw no real difference in the whiteness of my teeth after five days of twice daily use. I will continue using what I have but won't buy them again. I need heavy duty teeth whiteners and these strips aren't. Still, they are convenient, fast, and do dissolve. Some people love these strips. I think they are just OK.
My Viewpoint
These are about $25.00 a box for a two week supply (Twice daily application to upper and lower teeth). That's kind of pricey but, if they worked great, who cares? White teeth rock! For me, they don't have enough whitening ingredients to get rid of my stubborn stains. However, for average people who don't douse their teeth in tea and cola daily (or who don't smoke which I do not but smoking is a major assault to the teeth), these strips will probably be great. The taste is kind of gross but not so bad you will gag or anything. And the dissolving makes putting them on and forgetting them easy. I did try to put these on my teeth before bed since they dissolve but the aftertaste kept me awake and I had to get up and go brush my teeth again. I am going with 3 stars. I will recommend them though for mild to moderate stains or for general oral hygiene. Don't expect Farrah Fawcett in her heyday teeth. You won't get pearly whites from these. Just a shade or two lighter.
