One of the best gifts I ever received was the novel Still Alice by Lisa Genova.  This book essentially is the telling of the diagnosis and progression of Alzheimer's disease through the eyes of one of its victims. It is a heart-breaking story of a 50 year old professor who experiences mild symptoms that she at first attributes to menopause only to be stunned by a diagnosis that destroys her life as she knows it. You follow her downward spiraling though her first hand account of how it gradually disrupts and radically changes her life and her relationships with her husband, children and collegues. You can feel her frustrations and difficulties and how others' perception of her changes. The candor and humor of this brillant woman afflicted by a disease that robs her of her life piece by cruel piece is amazing.  You find yourself crying with her and for her.  I would highly recommend this book for anyone working with or knows someone with Alzheimer's Disease.  It is eye opening and will make you understand what a victim of this horrible disease has gone though /is going though.
