I purchased Liquid-Plumr Professional Strength Gel Clog Remover for my kitchen and basement sink. I had a very severe clog so I poured half the bottle into the sink and left it alone for 24 hours. The next day I came back to the sink to see if it had worked its way through the clog. To my surprise the same amount of liquid was still sitting in the sink. I decided to pour boiling water in the sink to see if that would help the liquid drain, but it didn't work. I ended up rodding the pipe out to get rid of the clog. I also tried this product on my basement sink. This sink was semi clogged with lint from the washing machine. I poured the other half of the bottle of liquid down the drain and waited for it to run out. I waited for 8 hours and nothing happened. I ended up getting rid of the slow drain by just using bleach and hot water. I definitely wouldn't recommend Liquid-Plumr Professional Strength Remover to anyone with a drain problem.

I normally use a different brand of gel clog remover, but decided to give the Liquid Plumr Professional Strength Gel Clog Remover a try, because it was on sale and I also had a coupon, making it a great deal. Our upstairs drain gets clogged quite a bit due to my (and my daughters) long hair. I was hoping this would do a quick job and clearing up the drain. It did ok. I had to use two applications, and then the drain still seemed to be moving slower than normal, so I had to end up using the little plastic snake thing we had gotten from another brand to pull out what hair was still left in there, and I was surprised there was quite a bit. This also has an extremely strong smell. I could smell it all the way downstairs while I was waiting for the time to pass before I could go up and flush the drain with hot water. And that was on top of having the vent on. Over all i don't think it's a bad product, it probably works great on clogs that aren't so full of hair.

This worked okay on hair but did nothing for grease.

I bought this product as a just incase product after having to call a plumber out only to find out our drain was clogged with hair. This will tend to happen with me because I have over three feet of hair and when I shed or wear my hair in a ponytail, the drains suffer. So we purchased this product. Whenever I think the tub drain is clogged, I just have to dump a little bit of this down the drain and wait a few minutes before flooding the drain with hot water. I think the chemical reaction must be strong enough to burn through the hair so I wouldn't recommend getting this on the skin. I always use my guys electricians gloves when I use this just incase because I don't want a chemical burn if something were to drip. This doesn't help with grease though. My nieces and nephews have yet to grasp the concept of the grease bucket in my kitchen and they frequently dump oils down my sink even though I tell them over and over again to stop it and use the coffee can for grease. More than once, the drain has gotten clogged up at the joints with lard and this does nothing to help break it up. The product just fills up to the joint and then backs up into the sink. I've had to take the elbow joints apart several times and remove oil because this doesn't work on oil or grease. It is great at busting up hair and toilet messes though! Performance It does great on the toilet and shower drains but for the grease in the kitchen (thanks to my niece and nephews antics) it did nothing for removing clumps of grease and lard. Scent The smell is atrocious. I try to stand away from it so I don't accidentally inhale the scent. It's terrible smelling.

Works well

I know that I have heard it before and I am sure I will hear it again: these types of products are not great for your pipes. That aside, this product works. I have used this on various types of clogs including: Buying a house and experiencing gosh-knows-what-the-former-owners-put-down-here clogs to having a husband who randomly clogs the sink with his excessive facial hair. It works pretty good in either case. I do not just break out this product any old day but it is very handy for clogs or the occasional slow draining sink. It is pretty pricy, in my opinion, and there are seldom good deals or coupons on it. The smell is okay considering what the product does. I am actually okay with the idea of a little elbow grease, but this tackles things that a bent-up hanger cannot even fathom. I love natural products (this is not one of them) but baking soda and vinegar, even in excessive doses, do not do the things that Liquid-Plumr does. At least not at my house.

The store was out of drano so I tried this product.

I usually use the drano brand gel drain cleaner, but my store was out of stock, so I tried Liquid Plumr gel instead. I have to say, I do prefer the Drano brand just a little bit better for the tough hair clogs we seem to end up with, The Liquid Plumr gel did an acceptable job. It seemed to take a little bit longer and I had to follow up with a second application to get the drain flowing normally. I definitely prefer the gel formula, since I have used the regular one and I don't think it works so well, at least not for hair in the trap kind of clogs. I also used this for a grease clog in the kitchen and it seemed to work very well on that, only needing one application to break it down and get the drain flowing normally. Performance Overall performance was acceptable, although I will probably try to avoid purchasing in the future unless absolutely necessary and stick with the drano product. Scent This is a strong cleaner and the scent is very strong. Donsidering what it is and what it does, I think that the scent is acceptable.

Good Product

Overall this product works well. It does what it is supposed to do, unclog the drain. I live in a small apartment building where my sink and tubs get clogged frequently because I have long thick hair. I use this product every few months to unclog both the sink and tub after I zipper the hair out. It does a decent job and leaves my drains free of clog. The only issue I might have is that I feel like my drains should not get clogged as often as they are if this product was truly removing the entire clog. Performance Overall this product does a good job an unclogging your drain. I use it a few times a year to unclog my sinks and tub. It is very easy to use and unclogged the drain with minimal effort. The only issue I might have is wondering if it got the entire clog because my tub and sinks clog very often. Scent Overall this product has a good scent. After use the scent will leave your bathroom/sink area smelling fresh and clean. I have no complaints about the scent of this product.

Fantastic drain cleaner!

I used this when my boyfriend moved into a new apartment. Apparently, no one checked to see if the sink was clogged before he moved in! I noticed the water was sluggish going down the drain and some disgusting gunk came up when I used a plunger. I ran to the store and purchased Liquid Plumber, followed the instructions, and was ecstatic with the results! The water ran down the drain in a few seconds! Performance Easy to use and freed our clogged sink in no time! Scent It has smell, not pleasant, but what one would expect from a chemical cleaner.

Not as good as the Draino gel

I have lots of hair. Often that hair falls off of my head. When that happens when I'm in the car it's fine because it just blows it out the window. When it happens in the shower it's not as easy. My hair has a tendency to clog up the drain and keep the water from running out of the tub. I'm not sure what my problem is. Maybe I'm secretly going through chemo. Anyway, I normally use Draino to keep the pipes clear and it works pretty well. I usually have to use it once every two months or so to keep the tub from backing up. It's not ideal but it's okay. And that's just the minimum, I can occasionally push the Draino back another couple of weeks or up to a month depending on how much I shed during those months. Unfortunately, one time I bought the Liquid Plumr, and I was not as enthralled. Within two weeks I had to use the cleaner again because the tub was backing up. I thought that perhaps it was just a particularly strong couple of weeks of stuff in the shower and tub. But after the next couple of weeks I again had to use it. I switched back to the Draino and found my way back into my regular every other month groove. Suffice to say I'll not be using the Liquid Plumr.

If liquid plumber can't do it, you gotta call a plumber.

Liquid plumber performs as advertised and clears the drain. This is the only drain cleaner that I have used and it hasn't failed me in 20 years. Performance I am careful about what goes down the drain, but occasionally the girls hair plugs the drain. Liquid plumber works. Scent Not caustic smelling
