The day after Thanksgiving, my mom and sister were staying with us and I decided to make a pot of beef vegetable soup. We were planning to head out to the Black Friday sales (at a reasonable time!) so I tossed a bunch of beef cuts into the crock pot. I added an envelope of the Lipton Onion soup, two tablespoons of bead molasses, a couple of dashes of soy sauce and a cup of water. Off we went to battle some strangers in the shopping aisles.
When we came home, I assembled the rest of the soup and simmered it on the stove. The beef cuts, along with the delicious gravy that the soup created, went straight into the pot and simmered a bit more.
I have to admit, this impromptu attempt at soup turned into one of the most delicious beef vegetable soups we ever had. Adding the Lipton Onion soup makes all the difference in terms of flavor. That's why those little white packets are a pantry staple in my home.
My favorite recipe is the roasted potatoes covered with the onion soup and a bit of oil. I always have to use two packets and a large amount of pototoes as the hubby and kids enjoy this as well.
I usually buy the Lipton soup in bulk or wait for a sale at the local grocery store. The other brands and generic versions just don't compare.
