Lipstick Jungle —

I've watched every episode of Lipstick Jungle on NBC.  The first season, I watched thinking.... ehhhh.  I didn't think I'd keep watching it when it came back, however somehow I got into it this season.  I think the first season was awkward because I had to get to know the characters - and the show did make the characters a little bit overact in the start.  Now that the characters are developed, they are more real.

Lipstick Jungle is like a replacement for Sex in the City... kind of.  It's all about powerful women!  3 women are friends, one is/was a movie producer (or something high up in the movie world), another is a fashion designer and the third is high up in a magazine company.  Unlike Sex in the City, these women are not all single.  Victory is single but has been very close to one guy - Joe - on and off for awhile.  Wendy is married with 2 kids, but her marriage is just a slight bit rocky - with her busy work schedule it's tough.  Nico's husband has passed but she's been dating a younger guy that she really cares for.  The show basically follows their lives - their careers - their relationships.

This show gets 4 stars because it does hold my interest.  The episodes have some slight twists and turns but I don't feel as if anything major has happened yet.  I think they are trying to slowly build on their storyline in hopes the show will run for a long time, it might just work out for them!  Like Sex in the City, you feel as if these women are MOSTLY in control of their lives, but they still need support.  That is what they have each other for.

Brooke Shields, Wendy, bugged me at first, but now she's ok, maybe it's because she lost her job.  I thought Brooke was trying to hard in the beginning which is part of the reason I was turned off in the first season.  Kim Raver as Nico is a good choice for the part.  She's the women who might be a little TOO much in control of her life, maybe she needs to let go.  Anyway, she's got good taste in clothes and seems to know what she wants in life so she's a good character.  Lindsay Price, Victory, and Andrew McCarthy, Joe, are two of my favorite characters.  They are teasing they will get married - but you know how dramas go!  It may or may not happen soon.  Lindsay is fun and brings energy to the show.  I've always enjoyed Andrew since the 80s movies, but now he's even better as he's actually a more serious character.

Overall, I will probably keep watching until it ends.  I like to have a few dramas mixed in with my reality and comedy shows :)  The one thing this show is missing is some comedy.  They try to be funny, but I never laugh at their lame one-liners.  I am holding on to this show even though it is slow right now, and I'm hoping that if I stick with it, the storyline will just build and get better and better.  It's an adult show so is well suited for women in their 20s and up.  Teens may or may not enjoy it, it's not dirty like Sex in the City so you can let them watch.  I think if you get in now, you won't need to watch the first season (I can fill you in in 5 minutes!) because more important stuff is happening now then ever did. Check it out on NBC and enjoy!!

Thanks for reminding me about this show. I rarely watch anything on network TV but somehow a month or two ago I stumbled upon this show and loved it. I guess since I've been a fan of Brooke Shields since "Blue Lagoon" and "Suddenly Susan." I even posted a comment to someone that I wanted to review it.

Okay, so tell me again the day and time so I can put a post-it on my vanity.

I've never watched "Lipstick Jungle." It sounds like something I would like to watch. I DVR a lot of my tv shows and watch them later because some of the shows come on at the same time.
