I think the Linksys Wireless Router was one of the best investments I have ever made, I purchased the product in 2005 but evertime the software advances I pay a small fee and get that same software installed on my router.

Even though it was brought so many years ago I have been able to stay updated without constantly purchasing new routers.

I would recommend highly recommend that anyone that likes staying up to date with technology invest in this product.

I have had a few of these. Only one have them has died. But I have had really good luck with them. I won't buy any other brand because they are cheap and they work amazing. I have never had over heating problems or anything like that. The one bad one I got I got used from someone, so who knows what they did to it.I have seen these used in offices and are always on, never have to reset them, and haven't been turned off in like two years. And they just keep on working. The range is pretty average for these. But you can buy better antanas for them and what not. It is really easy to set up. Plug and play for the most part. Linsys has a great tech support. They always solve problems for you and they are good for there warenties. They are fast and you are able to change the defualt IP address to whatever you might want it to be. Defualt will not let you use windows xp as internet connection sharing, which is good why you can change that in the router.

I use my computer everyday, so it is really important that I have a reliable internet connection. I have been using my cable modem for about three years and like it, but it was inconvenient to always have to be at my desk to do my internet work, or to connect and reconnect the cables whenever I wanted to travel with my laptop. I found a great solution with this Linksys WRT54GS Wireless Router because I can hook up both my computers to the network, and can be wire free anywhere in the house. The price I paid for this router was about $60, which I found at Best Buy and it seems like a great product. I have never used a router before so I was really pleased with how easy the setup was. I just connected the cables that were in my modem to the router, installed the setup and turned it on. The router took care of any complications and soon I was online and it is so great! I love that I can have wireless access anywhere in my home and don't have to worry with all the cables connected...

My son purchased this router to run his laptop off of our home inter-net service. It was very confusing to use and it did not keep network well. It took my husband and son several hours to hook it up and get it working. It only worked about 30 min until it was knocked off-line. This has been an ongoing problem with this router. I do not recommend it to anyone that has a rule address.

Im in the technology industry since 2000. I am a i've been working as a technical support for nearly 10 yrs. I have tested all and used almost all kinds and brand names of routers. but linksys stood out among them. it has a web interface that is very user friendly. One good thing i like the most about this product is when you forget the password, you can immediately reset to the default factory settings all by yourself without having communicating to their technical support. by simply holding the reset button for a few seconds and unplug the power.

Highly recommended for internal networking. its plug and play. you dont really need to be a tech savvy just to use this product. the package alos includes cd manual for the first time user. All your computers will be in one network in no less time. this also act as a print server. So could actually save for purchasing a separate printer server.

I bought a laptop for my daughter and wanted to hook up Wi Fi in our house so we wouldn't have to have the cable company run cable to her room. This router was easy to hook up and configure, it has a Speedbooster that rocks, and the range is great! No more fighting over the computer in the family room!

i am not a technology wizzard but to be completely honest i would not recomend this product to anyone. the price seemed right at the time but it was so much hassel. the guy at the store told me it was basically plug and go but i had to sit on the phone with a customer service representative for almost three hours to get it all set up. and to make matters worse his english was so poor that i actually asked for someone who knew how to speak properly or in a manner i could understand. the guy told me he would call me back in a half hour after totally messing up the existing modem and never did. finally had a friend who formally had the linksy system come over to help install and it took him another hour. once hooked up i found that it does the job but would not recomend it be placed in a bed room because the blinking all night is enough to drive you crazy. definately not something i would recomend. would have paid the extra couple bucks for less hassle. never had a problem with...

When I was looking for a wireless router I chose the Linksys wrt54gs because at the time it was the best one I could find. I have been using the same Linksys wrt54gs for over 7 years. When I first got the Linksys wrt54gs I thought it would be hard to set up but I found that it was simple. The first computer I used it with I got a card for inside the computer and had some issues with the computer staying connected. Since then I have purchased an USB connect device for the Linksys wrt54gs I use it on my second computer and my third computer still has the wireless card in it. When my girlfriend's daughters come over they like to use the wifi for their laptops. They are able to get a connection outside the apartment so they can go online outside. When my daughter comes to visit me she uses her iPod to connect to the internet through my Linksys wrt54gs. I had to change computers not to long ago and it was easy to download the new software from the Linksys web site and set up the router again....

After struggling for years with a D-Link and having intermittent breach issues because of the firewall I switched first to an earlier model Linksys but recently upgraded when I upgraded my PC. The setup for this one was nearly plug it in and turn the power on.

I did have security software issues (my software didn't like the new software installation - my fault, clicked the wrong version) which Linksys tech support helped resolve very quickly and in a very friendly manner - no tech talk - plain, simple instructions to get me up and running quickly.

After that, this router has performed flawlessly. I dont even have to think about worrying about this thing working or not, it just does! This router also has a great range, I get great internet access on the third floor when this thing is on the first floor! This router is truly amazing! I would recommend this router to anyone looking for a new wireless router, you can not go wrong with a linksys!

If you want wireless connection this is not for you. The Linksys WRT54GS Wireless Router. It is great if your laptop is sittng nearby the router. If not your signal is very LOW.

I purchased this at Best Buy. When I was sold this Linksys WRT54GS Wireless Router. I was told by the salesman that I could have access coverage all through my home. Yes,I told him my home square footage. No I walk with laptop out of the room which, The Linksys WRT54GS Wireless Router is stationed. I start getting lower signal.

My Desktop computer gets Excellent Signal. Which is where my Linksys WRT54GS Wireless Router is wired in.

I have tried different wire order. No difference.

I just learn to deal with it. Till I decide to move to better Quality Router.

As detailed in my reveiew I would not be able to recommend the Linksys WRT54GS Wireless Router at this time. Poor Quality for signal strength. Poor!!

Price when I purchased this item was high then. I paid 99.00 now you can purchase for 29.00 ...

Can a router get much better than this? Complete with wireless G technology & detachable antennas for an easy upgrade to the next best thing.

You can simply replace the antennas for higher gain & compatible with some outdoor wifi antennas, you can't beat it. Light up the entire nieghborhood with wireless internet!

Also upgradable to 3rd party firmware (DD-WRT) for use as a WDS (wireless distribution system), you can fill all three stories of your mansion with wireless internet access, using more than one Linksys WRT54GS router.

You can also extend your range of the Linksys WRT54GS even MORE with the DD-WRT Firmware by turning up your Transmit power to a phenomenal gain of 251mw.

I have been using this router for some time & am completely satisfied with it's reliability & performance. The way I look at it, you just can't go wrong with the WRT54GS from Linksys. Reliable, Versitile & Upgradable.

I purchased the Linksys wrt54gs router years ago and haven't had any serious problems with it since that initial setup. Linksys is a highly reliable brand name and is probably THE leader in the industry. The worst that has happened is my internet provider has the occasional issue that has made me had to reset the router (this has only happened about a total of 4 times since I bought and installed it). The speedbooster technology is an added bonus because it does give an added boost. I have replaced the antennas with the longer version to give me better range (about 400 ft) and still get great reception.

Didn't really need to use the setup software that came with it, it was pretty straight forward. Just be sure to setup the wireless security options. Also make sure the firmware is up to date. For added protection, be sure to enable the MAC filtering and disable the broadcast ID. This will give you greater security.
