Most HelpfulI purchased my WRT54G nearly two years ago. At that time, I had a Belkin G which had replaced my Hawkins G router. Between the three, the Linksys was the greatest. I popped the Linksys right out of the box and plugged it in. And it worked. Simplicity at it's greatest. It's been the most reliable...

Most HelpfulMy last Linksys router was a BEFSR41 (wired, with a WAP54G wireless access point connected to one of the ports) ; it worked flawlessly, until I bought my Sony LoctaionFree system (see my review of that unit). I needed UPNP (Universal Plug aNd Play) for the router to work with the Sony, so I updated...
read full review »Linksys is always a reliable router. I was able to network all five of the computers in my home though one router. I also networked the printer wirelessly through the router so any computer can print using that printer. I am not the best at using things, but it was very easy to figure out.
One downside to Linksys is their customer support. Everytime I call up to try and get help they keep me waiting long and do not always know how to fix the problem. I found that it is better to go online and look up problems that others have had and figure out how they solved them. An example of a problem I had...
read full review »This is a great router for the household that needs to have internet for different platforms at the same time. We have a desktop pc, a PS3 and a XBOX 360 that are all used online. We haven't had any problems with this Linksys wireless g router.
it can be used wired or wireless, each is very easy to set up. they also have a website that can walk you through the steps if you no longer have the manual or disk that came with it when you bought it. the support section on their website is also very helpful.
In so many products and services, things are expected to go smoothly. Some necessities are taken for granted and not thought about, until they cease to work. At the top of the list of things like that is the wireless router. People expect to hop online to check email, go to their favorite websites, or watch a video clip with ease and speed. Linksys' Wireless G WRT54G is a device that allows for just that. It's a budget router, small and simple and not top of the line. It is reliable, though, and that's really what everyone wants in a router.
The WRT54G has an ethernet input to connect...
read full review »I have had my Linksys WRT54G going on 7 years now, I think it's a good product for the money it's sold for. I have had tech's tell me it's out of date or it doesn't work anymore and have found them to be WRONG. When my router won't connect anymore it's not a malfucntion with the router it's a tech issue with the server or the computer it self. I've found that if I uninstall my Linksys WRT54G, and then reinstall it , It works just fine. I believe that the cause of me having to uninstall and reinstall is because of the upgrades of different servers or the windows update site. It has nothing to do...
read full review »I bought this router as a replacement for a different Lynksy, the old one was a one antenna, and i figured if it was good, then the 2 antenna one was better.
WE have 2 PC's in the house now, and a laptop, plus friends that visit have laptops. WE can run them all at the same time off this, no matter where in the house and paviallion.
I like the ease of installation, ease of hooking up to my main PC, and the way we can use wireless or direct feed, to the other PC
Have found direct feed to the other PC works bette than wireless, plus we did nhot have to buy a wireless card for the other PC.
My...
read full review »I have used computers for several years and I have been taught to program, clean, and fix my computer if it shall break down... I never have had to call HP or Dell or anyone about getting my computer to work HOWEVER.... after buying a Linksys product I spent over 3 hours on the phone with one of their techs for several different reasons. First off the techs do not speak english very well no matter what time of the day you call because they are not located with in the United States or Canada. Secondly, the products don't work half the time. I had to return three different Linksys routers to the...
read full review »This is an excellent unit for anyone considering a wireless home network. Very easy to setup and interfaces well with the cable modem from your cable company. Just think about it. No more fighting over who's turn it is to get on the internet. At my home, I can be on the computer in the back, while the wife or kid surfs from the living room. I haven't noticed any real slow down in bandwidth with the two of us on at the same time. Intergartion of the laptop was pretty straight forward and seemless. I truly think this was one of our best computer hardware buys yet. The price is very resonable. There...
read full review »We use the Linksys WRT54G to disburse internet thru our desktop, 2 network printers, and 3 laptops. The linksys is super easy to set up and secure.
The router is pretty relable. The only problem I run into is that the router doesn't pull new IP's from the modem in a timely manner. This is easily remedied by power cycling or releasing and renewing the IP from the Linksys web interface.
The router is programmable by MAC or IP address, which is great for keeping little ones or teenages off the internet during dinner time or after bedtime. It also allows me to open or close ports as needed. ...
read full review »I have spent countless hours on the phone resetting both my laptop and PC. I could have paid for them to do it in less time but I felt that if they are going to waste my time, then they are going to have to pay an employee for his or her time. Customer service is the name of the game and I should not have to spend hours on the phone or pay money for them to do it quickly. If they want me to endorse their product, they should be happy to do it for free and get me off of the phone and save phone expenses as well. I would have a hard time recommending this product to a friend. Try another...
read full review »The linksys was a great product unless you turn off your computers. Everytime we would shut down our laptop and desktop computer, the following day we would have to reestabilsh internet connection to both computers. This became very tedious exspecially with our wireless laptop. We would have to connect it directly to the linksys and spend about thirty minutes to reestablish internet connection for the wireless. As long as we remained online all the time, the connection was great. The speed was very good as well and we were able to play interent games with out loosing connection or slowing down...
