Lexmark X2580 All-In-One InkJet Printer, a good printer

4

I have had this Lexmark X2580 All-In-One InkJet Printer for several months now and my opinion about it is quite positive. The price of the machine was really cheap and I think that this product is a really high value. It works very well as a printer. It is clean, quite fast and it has not given me any problems until now. And I am very happy with the scanner. The quality of the scannings are very good. Besides, it is a fast scan and it is not noisy at all. The only negative aspect of this Lexmark X2580 All-In-One InkJet Printer is the cartridges. They are very expensive. Not everything could be good. It is very difficult or almost impossible, to get the cartridges in a store that is not the Lexmark store. This meams that when you have to get new cartridges, one option is not to do it and get a new printer. I think that is really a waste. Companies should try to change these policies. It is clear that these companies get most of their revenue with the cartridges but this system is not good. It is really a waste.

I've never regretted cheaping out on my Lexmark x2580.

As a professional school student, I've had two top priorities: saving time and saving money.  Professors challenged my time-management skills by forcing me to print pages and pages of notes prior to class; they often wouldn't even post the note sets until mere hours before the lectures were scheduled to begin.  I needed a quality printer which I could use in the comfort of my room to be prepared for the day's classes and avoid the crowds which were always prevalent in the computer labs at school.  This need led me to the search of a printer on which I wouldn't have to break the bank, hence top priority numero dos.  The Lexmark x2580 offered value in spades, so I gambled and spent what little pocket money I had on a brand I knew little about.  However, I've been pleasantly surprised with its ink economy and the quality of the printed pages.  I haven't once regretted cheaping out, and I'd seriously consider upgrading to a higher-quality Lexmark printer once I work down my debt load.

Lexmark printer menus are difficult to navigate!

2

The Lexmark X2580 all-in-one printer was exciting to receive, but that changed quickly.  When it works, it has many great features: it's fairly quiet, it can scan, fax, copy, and print a variety of projects, including labels, envelopes, full-color pages, pictures, and more.  The on-screen menus for the scanner work well and are very clear, but that all changes when you use the printer.  The printer has many features, like printing in grayscale or printing pages backwards or forwards, but certain menus reset themselves upon the completion of each print, making it difficult and time consuming to use these ink-saving features. Finally, when a new ink cartridge is inserted, a test page prints and must be scanned before the printer can be used again.  This is fairly standard - but there is no way to override the scan when the printer believes the print job is not right, and this the computer to be trapped into printing these alignment pages over and over.  The ink cartridges can only be purchased online, making it necessary to pay for shipping as well as the ink. This is the second Lexmark printer I've had - only because a store GAVE me this one - and I will never have another.  They are not worth the time or money.

I was highly disappointed with this Lexmark All in 1 Printer

I own the **Lexmark x2580 All-In-One InkJet Printer**. It was bought as a gift for me. I was thrilled with the idea of having a printer, scanner, and photo printer all in one. However, the ink cartridges are EXTREMELY expensive, and the ink runs out quickly, especially if you are printing pictures. The cost of printing my own pictures with this printer is far more expensive than having them printed through Kodak or Snapfish. If you don't have a full color ink cartridge, it will not let you just print in black and white, so you have to have cartridges with ink in them all of the time. I was just going to use this as a scanner after I ran out of color ink, but it will not let me print. With that said, you can still send scanned pages to your computer and print them from another source - so that is what I do. Also, the ink cartridges are NOT refillable, so you cannot take them to another place to get them filled - you have to buy from the manufacturer.

Lexmark X2580 printer could work better

This printer smeems to have a mind of it's own at times.  I have had to reinstall the printer to my computer several times as it freezes up.  I alsohave had a diffcult time finding replacement ink cartridges for it.  It is not useful for printing photos as they do not come out very clear and the color is not reliable.

Pretty good product.

The Lexmark X2580 is a pretty good product overall.  I would have to say my one major complaint is about the ink component.  I hate that every time I change the ink the printer forces me to do an alighment page.  I get why they think it's important but it's never been unaligned and I'm not sure why it would be since I don't adjust or move anything but the biggest complaint I have is I think it's an ink scam!  That alignment test page uses up so much ink.  I am never able to change both inks at the same time so the alignment takes place on each change (black and color) and uses such a large amount of ink on each test.  It fills an entire sheet of paper with dashes and thick blocks and lines of ink.  Seriously, isn't there a way to do this that doesn't waste so much expensive ink and how about the sheet of paper wasted on every alignment test.  Otherwise, it is a very good product and it prints quickly and very well and the copier is good and so is the scanner function.

Lexmark x2580 is not my favorite printer.

Three years ago I got a laptop, so my husband and I wouldn't have to fight over computer time anymore. The Lexmark x2580 All-In-One InkJet Printer came free with my laptop. That was a great deal. For the average user who only prints occasionally, or makes copies only a couple times a year this printer is just fine. It prints pretty fast and pages look clear. But if you do a lot of printing, you might try to find something a little better. I have printed photographs before, but they were not the best quality. I use this printer mostly for printing recipes and coupons. The scanner works fine, but I don't use it very often. The copier gets used maybe a couple times a month and the copies are of decent quality. The main reason why I would not recomment this Printer, is because of the ink cartridges. They are a lot more expensive than other brands. I also think they don't last as long as others. And it seems they are getting harder to find. You can however have them refilled. So, while the Lexmark x2580 All-In-One InkJet Printer is a decent printer, I will buy a different brand next time.
