I am takng Lexapro which is an Antidepressant for depression & anxiety. My brother was Manic depressive, he took his life in 1995. I am still having issues since his death. My mother has Alzheimer's Disease. My two other brothers have Depression as well. My father does too. Also, my sister did, she had a good reason for taking Lexapro. She had Thyroid cancer of her spine, then throughout her body. She lost her 11 year battle on March 17th, 2009. There is one sister left, but her Depression is quite mild, but has increased since our sisters passing. But, like my father, she refuses to take anything.
I have taken Lexapro since my brother's suicide. I wouldn't be here today if it wasn't for the Lexapro. Everybody is different though. Not everyone gets good results from Antidepressants. I was fortunate. It has helped me so much. The only bad thing is, if you run low or forget to take it, well, you do start to cry. Now, that's my way of knowing it does work.
When my sister died almost 2 months ago, I hardly cried. She was very close to me. She was like my mom, she took care of me when I was younger and even though she still suffered with great pain, she still looked after me and her other siblings and our parents. Thank God for Lexapro, but I just wish for a good cry and then to move on, as she would want us too. I need to greive, but that just goes to show you, how good the Lexapro is.
