Excellet budget Laptop from a great laptop maker

By

from Flemington, NJ

Comments about Lenovo ThinkPad SL510 Notebook PC:

When my fiancee's HP died earlier this year, we decided that we wanted to look for a laptop that was both affordable, but also had great reliability review and longevity.  As such, we arrived at the Lenovo Thinkpad of laptops - we both have lenovo laptops issued for work that have always worked great and without issues - why not bring that to our personal computers?

We eventually found a good deal on the SL510 line - while it does not have all of the features of the higher end thinkpads, it still contains a lot of the support software and security features of the higher end models (mostly, you just don't get the laptop body protection stuff like teh magnesium roll cage, which we didn't need, and you lose a few of the software packages, but for a budget laptop that was going to be used for internet and microsoft office and such, we didn't need all of that stuff).

Battery life is good, coming in near 3 hours on a charge, though we're hardly off charge with it for what we use it for (my laptop and netbook take care of a lot of other things when we're together).  The computer does a great job of running all of the microsoft office suite and doing anything on the internet, including watching streaming video off hulu or flash video sites.

The keyboard is easy to type on, and the mouse is easy to use, though I'm not a fan of the bumpy trackpad as compared to my Lenovo T500's smooth pad or my Asus 1215N's smooth pad.  But I guess you get what you pay for.

Overall, it's been a great machine that does it's daily job function the way we wanted it to, and it's never had an issue with hardware or software.

The Lenovo ThinkPad SL510 (28479WU) PC Notebook is incredible!

The  **Lenovo ThinkPad SL510 (28479WU) PC Notebook is a great laptop.  It's very up to date and isn't bad looking either. I really like the programs it came with.  It costs a bit more above average but for what you get with it, it is a great deal.  I really support Lenovo ThinkPad because they always put the customer and quality first, which is important.  So if you need a good reliable laptop, think ThinkPad!**

Makes me wish I'd had a makeover

By

from Erwin, TN

Comments about Lenovo ThinkPad SL510 Notebook PC:

My husband just purchased this laptop for me the week before Valetines.  I had previously been using a Dell Inspiron which was on its last legs depsite umpteen calls to tech support and various techies.

I LOVE THIS COMPUTER!  I'm a little out of the ordinary in that I prefer a larger laptop with a larger screen so as I don't have to hold it up in front of my face and squint.  This model has an ample 15.4 screen and a comfortable keyboard.  The buttons are easy to see for anyone who has vision problems.

My only poop so far with my new computer is that the cord's placement gets in my way.  It plugs in on the left side, not the back...and since my wall outlet is on the right side of me, this tends to be an annoyance at times.  I'm prone to tripping over the dern thing when I get off the couch.

We got a great deal on this model with the Veriface signature/password, so I really can't complain.  I do however wish I had a better hair-do when the webcam for the Veriface pops up.  But I really can't complain.  I'm very pleased with this purchase!
