low price but low quality

3

I can easily tell the quality is much lower than the other major laptop brands when I received this laptop. The power pack looks very cheap. The power plug couldn't sturdity connected to the socket. The screen is loosely mounted and it's easily shaked back and forth without holding a position hard. Like less than one month's use, the wireless doesn't work. I tried every method but could fix the problem. At last I have to send it back to customer serive. Gladly they solved problem and paid the shipping, but still, it's time consuming and very inconvenient to us. It's a light machine which is good. I am afraid this is the only character that I find attractive. The laptop stops working and crashes very frequently. Restarting is the only solution. The low price comes low quality product. I beleive this is would be my last Lenove laptop. I would rather pay more for a better laptop to save my time and better mood.

Lenovo ThinkPad SL410 28427PU: my 1st laptop & I'm in LOVE!

5

My husband and I decided it was time to purchase new computers after Christmas last year. I had been debating for some time whether to finally switch to a laptop from my beloved PC. After agonizing for what seemed like forever, I decided to become the new owner of a Lenovo ThinkPad SL410 28427PU at a fair price. It took a while to get used to the keyboard, but aside from a little different keys placement the adjustment was easy. I don't like a touchpad and use an external drive for my work and backups, so the two usb ports are quite convenient. The ability to use my ThinkPad as an input device for my television is a BIG bonus! I use wireless connectivity and a home network and the ThinkPad's built-in capability has been satisfactory to date. Connecting to public Wi-Fi has been problem-free. If I need to connect to a wired network, there is also an outlet for a CAT5 cable. This laptop's portability is good. Battery run time is four hours if you are not running extra audio or video, or any intensive programs. Images on the monitor are clear and crisp. The built-in webcam and mic provide clear, crisp images and sound, respectively. The built-in DVD-RW drive works well for burning cds and dvds and for playback. There is an sd card slot should you choose to upload/download pictures, music or video from other electronic devices. The only drawback I have noticed is that the speakers are not very loud, even at full volume. This is my first real experience with a laptop, but I am impressed! My husband is sad that he chose a new desktop instead.

Lenovo bargain line gets job done but you know it's bargain-line

My personal laptop, a top-of-the-line HP Pavilion broke, and I needed an economic replacement. I had used Thinkpads at work for many years, and had always been happy with the design and performance. I came to hate all the extra buttons and keyboard gadgets on my HP and other consumer-targeted laptops. I wanted a Thinkpad as my next laptop. Unfortunately, my budget took me out of the T-series and other higher-priced lines. I got an excellent deal on an SL410, with Windows 7 and a Celeron processor.  3GB RAM and 240GB hard drive. The SL410 performs terrifically for my needs. I mostly do a lot of web surfing, and I can have dozens of tabs often concurently without the processor blinking an eye. Video, flash, movies...the SL410 hasn't choked at all.. I like the simple interface. Battery life is ok, averaging about 3 hours. The screen is an ideal size, 1366x768. I'm glad I paid slightly more for Windows 7. On the downside, the speakers are pretty awful if you don't use headphones. The keyboard, usually great on Thinkpads, is a bit rigid. A few keys don't register a significant amount of the time. The textured mousepad doesn't allow allow more smooth cursor movement. There's also the Thinkpad trackball, which worked fine until it mysteriously feel off on me. I still have faith in the Lenovo brand, but I'd recommend getting the best model you can afford.
