Lenovo t510 needs improvements

By

Comments about Lenovo T510 Notebook PC:

The t510 is a workhorse, don't get me wrong, but it certainly lacks some significant things that will leave you wondering what the designers were thinking. Usb slots are first to come to mind. Why aren't there any on the back or opposite sides of the machine. When working in closed spaces, sometimes you can only reach to one side of the laptop. USB slots on each side could oversome this. Also, movement of the ctrl key! That's the worst decision, ctrl+c, ctrl+f4, the list is endless of my uses for the control key, moving it to the right, and moving the function button to the leftmost position always makes my pinkie hit the wrong key...FAIL!. And finally a lack of bluetooth in an intel i5 machine with 4GB ram, and a 500GB hard drive makes no sense. Why put all the power and leave off such a tiny peripheral function? Ultimately its these little things that cause me to dislike the unit. Sadly I was buying for performance at the time and didn't realize how much the little things can hold you back when you buy only for power. Last thing...it's really wide, and the speakers are underpowered.

Lenovo Laptop

By

from West Lafayette, IN

Comments about Lenovo T510 Notebook PC:

I am very happy with my purchase of my Lenovo.  To be perfectly honest, I am not quite sure which kind of laptop it is other than being a Lenovo.  I was heading off to college and I needed to get a laptop in order to be able to get everything done conveniently.  I first started off with a Dell that I was borrowing from one of my family members, but during the first semester, I was having numerous problems with it because it had Vista on it, which does not work very well anyway, but made doing schoolwork difficult.  During one of the breaks, my father and I decided to get me a new laptop and we decided on a Lenovo.  I still use that same Lenovo that I received during college, and it has worked very well for me.  There is a built in web camera on my laptop, which is very convenient because it means that an external web camera is not necessary.  I have not encountered the same problems with my Lenovo as I did when I was using the Dell.

Heavy for something lacking performance

Comments about Lenovo T510 Notebook PC:

The T510 is a pretty big laptop, Lenovo moved to a much wider version of their normal T61 sized Laptops. The added screen size might be nice for people who just want a laptop or something they can sit at a desk and easily move or have on their laps. But the size is not for people who travel a lot. People may want a big screen to see but the T510 is not only wide but fat (as in tall) This makes it's one of the largest Laptops Lenovo have released.

The size and weight are not the only concern, the design is odd and seems wasted. There are two side pannels to the keyboard which seem like wasted space. The laptop has such a big surface area, but Lenovo kept the same sized keyboard. A laptops keyboard is already compressed, now with all the surface area I would think they could spread it out! But that wasn't the case.

The power and speed are to be expected, but for a somewhat pricey laptop it's lacking some features that make it uselss compared to the W510. They cost about the same, but the W510 comes with Fingerprint, built in Webcam, has a much brighter screen, higher resolution, better Video card with it's own RAM, faster quad-core CPU and all for less then 10% more then the cost of the T510.

Don't waste your money or time getting a T510, move to the W510. They are both just as big in physical size (though the W510 is thinner) but W510 is SO MUCH more bang for your buck.

I bought it at this Janurary. i love IBM so I chose this one. it is very good. it looks so sturdy and professional. My system is windows 7, it is very beautiful and smooth. And the most important, it is silent, I hate the noise. Although it is a little expensive, it is worth the money.
