Leki Performance Basket Review

We have been hiking in spite of the rain during our vacation at Acadia National Park. I used the Leki Performance Baskets while we were hiking in Glacier National Park and Crater Lake National Park because there was snow. At this time of the year there is mud on the trails so the Performance Baskets come in very handy. For around $6.00 a pair they are great to have with you.

There are two main reasons the Leki Performence Baskets are so great.  

• They may reduce the impact that hiking poles make when we use them on the side of the trails. It is easy for poles to go deep into the ground but the Leki Performance Baskets prevent that.
• They make hiking easier. For example today the mud was so thick that my pole (I only used one today.) would have sunk into the mud pretty deeply making me then have to pull it up. The Leki Performance Baskets stopped the pole from going far into the mud so I could just continue on my way. You'll see an open area on the Basket. That allows the mud or snow to give and allows the easiness of picking up the pole from the mud or the snow.

The Leki Performance Baskets are easy to get on and off. All I have to do is put pressure downward on the basket and turn it clockwise to take it off. To put my Basket back on I just push the basket onto the pole tip and turn it counterclockwise. I have never had a problem with a Basket coming off even when I have gotten it stuck on brush.

My Leki Performance Baskets are great in snow and mud but I have also used them in sand and where there is loose rock for the same reasons making these not just cold weather accessories.
