Most HelpfulWisconsin is associated with several things. As a former Wisconsin resident myself, I can remember the cold weather, cheese, and football fanaticism that go hand in hand with the Badger state. And, of course, there is beer and the best known local brew in Wisconsin is Leinenkugel. One product I have...

Most HelpfulI first tried Leinenkugel Sunset When when I was in WI visiting my husband's family. The second time I tried it was at my husband's (not-so) surprise birthday party a short time ago. The review I have of it is not going to change based upon my second attempt at enjoying it.

review »Consumer Note #1: This beer is made with natural flavors (?)
* Murky amber-gold brew. Towering ivory head collapses and condenses quickly.
* Zesty citrus nose features a dominating lemony-orangey aroma. Little else is discernable.
* Fruity foretaste more closely resembles a wine cooler than a beer. Timid malt flavor hiding in background. Wheat? What wheat?
* Finish is a tad sweet and tangy...decent balance.
* Body is medium-thin (yeast in suspension contributes to body and mouthfeel). Throat-warming sensation is very uncharacteristic of this style (4.9% abv)

review »We were invited over to friends house for a get together and this is one of the brews they were serving. I thought Leinies are always good I will try this, whoa what a surprise. The sweetness was overwhelming, I could not finish this beer. I tried handing it over to the hubby, he is always game to try a new brew. He also refused to drink it. The only ones who would drink it were ones who usually enjoy wine. I would not recommend this to anyone. Sorry to say this is probably the worst beer I ever had.
Leinenkugel's Sunset Wheat tastes like someone melted a sweet and sour Charm's sucker in my beer. I saw Belgian Wheat and I thought it would be light and I had a certain flavor profile in the back of my head. It hit my taste buds and they were seriously confused. I guess if I had expected a wine cooler, this would have fit the bill. But as a beer, not so much.
Leinenkugel's Sunset Wheat was recommended to me by a friend after I told him I loved Blue Moon. He told me it was a very comparable beer, and indeed it was. I loved it! I would highly recommend the beer particularly to those people who enjoy wheat beers like Blue Moon, Shock Top, etc.
