Lehigh SafeGuard Ultimate Dog Trolley Exerciser —

My dog has a nice lot which is fairly large, but she is a real people dog. She is a lot happier on her SafeGuard dog trolley hooked from the garage door to the front porch.

A dog trolley is a line run overhead with a tie out line. The SafeGuard is 75 foot on the overhead (more than I could use) and then 10 feet side to side off the main line.

I had a cheaper trolley which held up a couple of years. I got the new one which is studier at Lowe's. I was going to replace the tie out line and pulley which was hanging up. It was only a couple of dollars difference to buy the full set versus the parts. Our overhead line had some frayed spots too, so it just made sense to get a full new set at around $24.

It's pretty easy to install the dog trolley. It has a couple of big screws. Then you string up the line and put on the pulley roller. The hardest part is getting it taunt. Mine is a big saggy, since I could not get it pulled tight.

When we first put up the trolley, the pulley part hung up. I sprayed that with a little WD40, and then it worked just fine.

The neighbor has a young dog (about one year), and his pull trolley has not worked out too well. His dog jerks too much on the trolley and gets twisted up around things in the yard. My dog sometimes gets wrapped around the porch post, but she is about 9 years old and just sits on the porch and does not get upset.

I think the trolley line is just meant for some exercise and not to be used daily. Hershey really likes being up on the porch especially if it rains. She does not like her dog house very much and is afraid of thunder. So, she stays mostly on the run line instead of her dog lot now, since she gets constant attention right at the back door rather than across the yard.

For my dog, this works out really well. I'm not so sure about younger and more active dogs.
