Most HelpfulI bought the Leapster for my son, he is 3 but will be 4 in 2 months. It is not very durable, I do not know what happened but the screen went out, all of the lighting is not working and I am very dissapointed honestly. I expected it to be more durable then this. I did not expect that it would break only...
review »The Leapster is a handheld gaming system for preschool and elementary aged students. The device is powered by batteries (which can get pricey and can lead to problems when the batteries run out in the middle of a trip) and has several buttons for the power, moving up, down, right, left, and menu buttons.
We have a few games to go with the Leapster gaming system. We have a drawing program, a Kindergarten program, a "Cars" program. Although they all help reinforce educational skills, some are much better than others. The Kindergarten program, for example, is teaching my son basic subtraction skills...
review »THe leapster learning system keeps your kids busy. Lets them learn at the same time as they are playing a game. They can win awards and make great achivements. My daughter is always trying to out do her last score. The only downfall is that they keep coming out with newer and better things for leapster. But the leapster 2 games will work with this leapster which is a plus when your trying to save money. It's fun to bring this along on long trips. Instead of just watching a movie they can learn and keep there imagination going.
I bought the Leapster for my stepson for a christmas gift last year due to he was having problems with reading. At first, i didnt think he would like it due to he plays with action figures all the time. I found him a neat Wall E game, cause he likes Wall E and turns out he loves this game. I cant keep him off of it and his reading has improved. But leapster also teaches math, as well as has regular painting games on it,so its a fun for all for kids!
I bought this leapster for my 2.5 old son about a month ago and he loves it, some games are a little hard for him still but it entertains him, I think this is an excellent toy as it's very educational and will last him for a while, I am thinking of getting him the leapster 2 for christmas just so he has it for when he's ready to play with it, I would definetly recommend this to any parent, it educates and entertains your child at the same time.
Being the youngest of three, my son wanted a gameboy at a very young age to be like his older brother and sister. Instead, we got him hooked on the Leapster. He feels like he's playing a gameboy, but it's a great learning tool. He already knows a lot of math at 4. It is great for entertaining him during long car rides, and it's small enough to carry around.
Our boys each received a Leapster for Christmas and have really enjoyed the games. It has been nice that their favorite characters from Star Wars, Cars, Wall-E and others have associated games. The fact that the majority of the games promote learning was a key reason that we were interested in buying these toys!
