I saw this before Christmas and thought it would be a great gift for my toddler, who would be 2 1/2 on Christmas. I purchased it, wrapped it, and fought myself not to give it to my son early. By that time, my son already knew his ABC's, upper and lower case, and was bored with the toys that just stated the name of the letter. I thought Word Whammer would provide the challenge he needed. It started out great. Christmas morning, he opened the toy and was thrilled with it. Within two weeks, when he turned it on, it would get "stuck" on the opening song. It was like an old vinyl record with a scratch, just kept repeating over and over again. Very annoying for me and frustrating for my son. We would turn it off, then back on with hopes that it would become "unstuck". Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I've contacted LeapFrog about this problem but have not received any response, let alone a solution. Changing batteries has failed to work. Returning it to Amazon is a pain. If this were the only LeapFrog toy that we have with this problem of getting "stuck", I'd say it was a fluke. But, we currently have FOUR LeapFrog toys with the same problem. Learning Drum, Phonics Radio, Word Whammer and ClickStart. All with the potential of being great toys, but with that problem, almost more trouble than they are worth. And, as far as customer service at LeapFrog, I would give them a negative five stars. They have been no help at all, if they even bothered to try.
