Most HelpfulOur 3 year old received this and 3 additional Tag Reader books from her grandparents for Christmas. She always watched the commercial and said "I want that!". When they were looking for suggestions, we gave them this idea.
What an amazing toy. You can point to the words and the pen "reads" them out...

Most HelpfulI love the LeapFrog Tag. I love that you can make classic and new storybooks come to life. My 3 year old enjoys using the pen and sounding out all the words he hears. He also loves to connect words with pictures and similar things to their partners (example: fire truck to fire house...adding fire...

review »The LeapFrog Tag Reader has made a positive difference in my dyslexic daughter's reading and spelling. She received the LeapFrog Tag Reader 2 years ago at age 5 for Xmas. At the time, she couldn't read or spell and was far behind her classmates. She only received the book Ozzie and Mack that came with the Reader. She played with it daily.
First, we started out letting her read the story to her. Then, the Reader read it to her line by line as she moved the pen along the sentences. She played the games. (Alert: some children may become bored by this, but as some parents know, some children watch...

Product Features
My parents got the Tag Learning System for my 5 year old last Christmas. I had seen it, but wasn't sure what I thought about it. The system and books can be a bit pricey. But my kids both love it. They will sit down together [they are ages 3 and 6] and read the books together. A lot of the books also have games to them, and you can do different settings, having the reader either read the entire page for you [like a book on tape] or just word by word. Now that my 6 year old is an emerging reader, he can read a lot of it himself, but just uses the reader for the words he struggles with...
review »The Leap Frog Tag System for children four and over is an exciting way for children to learn. They enjoy be able to read a book on their own. The tag system is great a way to keep children occupied when going on road trips too.
There are several books that you can purchase that fit well with this age group. There are Disney and Nick Jr. books as well as popular reading books.
All they need to do is point the "tag" pen at the book and it will raed each word in the book. They also can just click on an icon and the tag pen will read the book in it's enitirety. The books come with games as well. They...
review »I bought the Tag reading system for my daughter when she turned 6 and was learning to read. I love how it tells you all the words in the Tag books and also has little surprise sounds when your child taps on a picture in the books. This system is great for word recognition. There is also a good variety of books that you can buy. Tag has all of the popular characters like, disney, nickleodeon, and even Fancy Nancy. This toy does take some adult supervision. You have to load each book on to the Tag pen and the pen only holds 5-10 books depending on if you have an old or a new version....
review »I really like the new or newer TAG reading system. It is a HUGE improvement over the old LeapPad systems. I especially like that there are no more cartridges to get lost and that the quality of the books have improved. The old LeapPad books were so flimsy and the pages would always get ripped. It's a little more cumbersome for the initial setup because you have to download content online into the toy, but in the long run it's so much easier to maintain and for the children to play with. They just need the book and the reading wand. The other great improvement is the quality of the audio...
review »We got a tag pen for my oldest son's thrid birthday. At first we were really not interested in spending that much money for it, but ended up getting it from a grandparent. Immediately our son got hooked on it. It was so easy for him to use by himself or with us. He can listen to the story by himself or play along and learn how to pronounce a word or even what letter it is. Being a parent has made us appreciate how easy it is to hook the tag pen up to the computer and transfer new books onto it. I really enjoy that you can add the book to your library but you don't have to transfer it onto the pen....
review »My son is in Pre K and is very intelligent and LOVES the tag reading system that he got last year for Christmas. He loves to read but wants to do everything himself! The system allows him to be very independent and know he is reading a book all by himself without needing Mama or Daddy to help him. They make all kinds of stories to go with the book Super Heros,Princess' ,Disney etc... We love the system so much we are getting our daughter one for Christmas this year to give her a head start on her reading as well. This is a great tool to help sound out words and provide kids with the self confidence...
review »I purchased the leapfrog tag for my child after we saw it on television and he wanted it. The tag has helped him learn to sound out words as he reads as well as motivate him to read. The leapfrog tag is very easy to use but you must have a computer. Once you purchase the leapfrog tag you must register it on your computer, then you hook the leapfrog tag up to your computer with the provided accessories and download the books that you have purchased. The only thing that I do not like about the leapfrog tag is that there is a only a certain number of books that you may put on it at a time so if you...
review »I bought the LeapFrog Tag Reader System for my 5-year old son for his 4th birthday. At the time he was just starting to talk, he was quite behind in that aspect of his development, and the Tag Reading System started a whole new way for him to advance his education. I had bought many LeapFrog products to date so I figured it was worth the risk at the price the product was listed for. I not only bought the reading system itself, but I also bought the carrying case and a couple extra books. Boy was it ever worth the money! The day my son opened it at his 4th birthday party, he was hooked. Since that...
review »I own every single Leap Frog item you can name. From the Baby Leap Pad to the Leap Pad plus writing and the game systems. Why did they not come out with this sooner. No seperate books and cartridges to carry. As long as you have the pen, it works with the books and you can still play games and read the books, the same as those older versions where you have to have a special Thing to place the book in and the book plus the cartridge to put inside the thing. Too much to keep up with. The pages are not the most durable and do tear easy unlike the pages on the Little Touch Leap Pad. And at times my...
