Leap Frog Tag is cool!

Overall
Rated 5 out of 5

My Son loves books. At school he has just started learning to read (he's in pre k). He really likes being able to use his Leap frog tag to point at words and help him sound them out. It's so good on so many levels. The books are a little more expensive than a regular book but regular books can't be read by pointing a toy at them. The other great thing is they go on sale pretty often at different stores and I've seen coupons for them at coupons.com and on the leap frog website. They have a wonderful variety of books so that you can pretty much find stuff that appeals to any child. It seems like they add new books pretty often too (like when the movie tangled came out, I saw a Tag book for it)...

The Tag is a great way for kids to learn to read

Overall
Rated 5 out of 5

I love the Tag!  Leapfrog always comes out with amazing products and this one is no exception!  The Tag allows children to read along with stories.  It will either read the story to them or they can push on each letter and read along with it.  There are also games that they can play with 3 different levels to work up to.  They can earn rewards that can be printed out at your computer when you connect your tag.  My kids love seeing what new rewards they have earned.  There are also plenty of extra things that happen on each page just by clicking on the different characters and objects on each page.  They love reading through these books over and over and I thought they might get bored with it but they don't!  It's kind of a pain to load the stories on and since it can't hold every story at the same time you have to take some books off in order to load more.  But really I will do just about anything if it means it will help them learn to read!

Great way to help a struggling reader!

Overall
Rated 5 out of 5

I love the LeapFrog Tag Reading System, and really credit it with helping my youngest learn to be a more confident reader. He really seemed to enjoy reading alot more after using this system, and it also works really well when you have little ones that can't read, and they just keep asking to be read to again and again! I love the fact that you can just turn it on storyplay, even without the book and it works well for long car trips. I buy them for gifts for just about every kid that I know that doesn't have one, they are that great! They have a pretty good selection of books, and I assume that they will keep adding to their list as they have with the Leapsters. They have a few of the classic books, as well as some of the popular character books. All in all, I love it!

LeapFrog Tag Reading...tag, you're it!

Overall
Rated 5 out of 5

Let me just saw that this is one of my favorite purchases of all time! Children today are influenced by so much in the media. Everything has become electronic and most of it serve no educational purpose. The Leapfrog Tag Reading System is not one of those things.

With the Tag Reading System, my kids are learning to read! My 2 year old is even sounding out words! This small (yet efficient) system, will help your little ones sound out words, vowels and more. It's like having a peronsal tutor (but at a fractions of the cost).

To use the Tag reader, you turn it on and touch the tip of it to a word in any of the Tag Rading books. There are so many books to choose from. Your child will never get bored. No, they'll ask for new books instead. I don't know about other parents, but I would much rather spend money on books as opposed to poorly made toys that teach them nothing and breaks fairly easily.

Awesome educational toy

Overall
Rated 5 out of 5

Our son at 3.5 has finally graduated past the Tag Jr. system so we have handed that down to our youngest and got a Tag Reading system for him. I am consistently impressed with the Tag system and how it makes reading something fun and exciting for youngsters instead of boring and slow. The batteries also last a long time in it making it something that we don't have to invest in Duracell Stock to buy. Suprisingly he is VERY interested in it and likes to play with it on his own and read and see what everything is in the books that we have which I think is the sign of a good toy that the child takes interest in it all on their own and not persuaded by mom and dad. The only downfall to the set is the elevated cost of books and sometimes it takes a while to get the books downloaded and set up onto the Tag device via the Leap Frog software, but maybe that's my own internet connnection and not a fault of the Tag system.

We LOVE our LeapFrog Tag Readers

Overall
Rated 5 out of 5

We purchased both of our girls the LeapFrog Tag Readers for Christmas in 2009. I LOVE this awesome, entertaining and educational toy. My girls are currently 5 and 3.5 years old. Their LeapFrog Tag Readers have offered MANY hours of fun for our girls. They are easy to use for even my 3.5 year olds small hands. There are times where I want to read to my girls and something comes up where I can not and the LeapFrog Tag Readers are a great stand-in for me. I love how the books come to life with all the sounds the Tag Reader can make. We recently purchased the Tag Reader Maps and I'm looking forward to opening them up and using them with my five year old especially. And because we have two girls it was nice to purchase the Tag Readers in two different colors so that they don't fight over them. They both know which one belongs to them. I also love the variety of books offered to go with the Tag Reading System. Many of the books are some of my girls favorite TV shows or movies.

Fun tool to help kids enjoy books on their own

Overall
Rated 4 out of 5

I was hesitant to buy this product despite hearing from many others with preschool aged kids that it was "the" new thing to get your kids. I figured my generation learned to read just fine without the fancy gadgets - what would this really do?

Well I found a great deal and decided to purchase it (we already had a free LeapFrog Tag book that we'd requested on-line). It is a fun tool! While I don't know how much it is teaching my 4 year old about reading I do know that it provides some entertainment, games and interactive fun for him and allows for him to be on his own with his books for a bit while mom or dad are doing something else. I can see this also being great for long car rides.

Tag is Perfect for Preschoolers

Overall
Rated 4 out of 5

My daughter received the LeapFrog Tag Reading System for her fourth birthday and we all love it. My daughter loves the fact that it gives her some independence from us. She is learning and interested in reading and this is really fostering that interest. The book selection for the tag system looks to be quite diverse which is nice for girls and boys of all ages. The downside to the system is that it definitely requires adult help and the use of a computer before a child can use it. For someone who doesn't have a computer or isn't very computer literate, this would be difficult. The software has to be downloaded and installed and it took us about 15 minutes on the computer setting the pen up before my daughter could use it. That was a long time to wait for an excited four year old! Other than that, it's great. It includes not only letters and phonics, but games and the ability for kids to really interact with words and pictures.

My son loves this

Overall
Rated 5 out of 5

My husband and I bought the Leap Frog Tag for my 3 year old for Christmas. I was nervous because we bought the tag that was for 4-8 years old and I was afraid that it would be too old for him, but thankfully it wasn't. My son absolutely loves the books and the interactiveness of the pen. I like how it gives my son a lot of tries to get the right answer. My son loves all the books because they appeal to his age range. I have a younger son and I hope that they will still be good when he turns 3. I am a little upset that it only holds eight books because it would be great if it held more. It also goes through batteries way too fast which isn't really great. I do like that my son can earn rewards by getting things correct while reading the book. My son loves to read these in the car and it keeps him entertained on long car rides. I also like the fact that the books are inexpensive unlike the V-Tech Reader.

We really like Tag

Overall
Rated 4 out of 5

My 4.5 year old got a Tag reader and several books for Christmas. They've been at our house for over 2 months now and are still a big hit. I was able to find both the reader and the books on sale, so we purchased them significantly below retail. I'd read a lot of mixed reviews so I was worried about spending too much money on these products. My son however is a fan. He prefers to play the games in the book, rather than read them. He sometimes has trouble using the pen to read it a word at a time. He tries to slide it along and misses words. He's getting better at touching it to each word though. The games are fun for him and at least relatively educational. He loves books and these...

Great Toy

Overall
Rated 5 out of 5

My five year old daughter loves having stories read to her, with two other little children in the house I do not always have the time or the energy to read to her as much as she would like so I started looking for something that could help. I found the tag reading system and she loves it, if I am too busy or helping the other children she can sit down by herself and read a book. The tag reading system is a great toy, there are tons of books about the things that she is interested in, including Disney stories like Princess and the Frog, and Tangled, and tons of other fun books that are educational as well. She has been wanting to learn to read and this is helping her learn faster than I could have helped her alone. I would reccomend this toy to anyone with small children and busy lives, it allows my daughter to play quietly by herself while her brother and sister are napping, it is a wonder toy.

Leap Frog Tag is a fun way to encourage reading!

Overall
Rated 5 out of 5

I purchased the Leap Frog Tag system for my son before he turned 3. At that early age, he was only interested in me reading the stories like the "regular" books. Now that he is older, he loves to use the pen to help him read the stories. Cade has even learned to recognize some words and is able to read them at storytime. Downloading all the books took a little bit of time and he gets quite impatient...anyone know a 3 year old that is patient? The other downside is that it only holds so many books.

I like that there's more to the books than just the story. Placing the pen on the characters brings even more life to the books! I plan on purchasing the map next....we have family in 3 di...

Finally a toy mom and dad can feel good about

Overall
Rated 5 out of 5

Even as I write this, my five year old daughter is sitting on the couch using her leapfrog pen and books. It is hands down the best learning friendly toy for a preschool/elementary aged child. If you want to encourage your child to read, even when you can't spend the time reading to them yourself, then this is the She spends hours at a time doing the games, activities and stories the books offer. No matter how many times she may have cracked open the book she still can find numerous things she has never participated in. She is always thrilled when the pen tells her shes won reward points and it is gratifying as a mom to see her so encouraged to keep reading and learning. It has helped her learn to identify letters and sound words as well as entertaining her. The stories are always read by interesting voices and are not irritating to hear. The books often go on sale or have corresponding coupons available so it is easy to accumluate new books without spending a lot of money.

LeapFrog Tag encourages great reading skills!

Overall
Rated 5 out of 5

My 6 year old daughter seemed to be struggling a bit with reading in school.  She would get frustrated trying to sound out the words, and lose interest in reading quickly.  I saw the LeapFrog Tag system on sale, and decided to purchase it for her.  She was so excited to receive it.  She wanted to read some books right away.  After having the Tag System for several months, I can see a bit of an improvement in her reading.  She is also now excited to read.  She chooses to bring her Tag to school and daycare when they are allowed to have free-play time, rather than any of her other toys!  There are several books to choose from in the system, and they are ...
