LeapFrog My First Leappad Learning System —

I bought this for my son for Christmas when my son was one year old. I bought it to try and help get him into books as I had tried reading to him before and he wouldn't let me read to him because he was too interested in turning the pages. So I figured this electronic book system would help out with that because of the noise. He could have cared less about this item. The age recommendations on it is 9-36 months. Eh, Not even close. This item actually turned him away from books and he really wanted nothing to do with them after this. I tried for a whole year to get him to even acknowledge this 'toy' and he refused. I finally donated it to good will. I know of other moms who have also complained about the age appropriate-ness of this product. I was very dissapointed in this product as I had paid a hefty price (it had just come out) and the cartridges are $20 a pop. As a single mom (at the time) it was very hard.
