LeapFrog Little Touch Leappad —

I was excited to purchase the LeapFrog Little Touch Leap Pad for my daughter's second birthday.  The product is made for children 18 months and up, so I thought it would still be a useful learning tool before moving onto similar LeapFrog products (like the Leapster).  However, in using the Little Touch Leap Pad, my husband and I have found the product to be a complete waste of money.  Perhaps if my daughter were able to completely focus her attention for long lengths of time it would be worthwhile - but what 2 year old can do that?  There are 3 settings that can be used, based on the child's developmental age.  However, the setting can be easily changed on each page of a Leap Pad book by the child.  The child can also easily turn off the narration (which we can't get to work right anyway).  A child at this age has no idea what the settings or "narration on/off" mean.  The product just can't be used consistently in one sitting (plus the product doesn't remember what settings you set during its previous use).  The product's parental controls need significant improvement!  Also, a child can press on a picture, then a description or song or question follows, but the child can then immediately press on another picture which subsequently "cuts off" whatever was being said by the child's previous touch.  So, my child rarely gets to hear a complete question or comment because, as a 2 year old, she's too intent on hitting buttons for cause and effect.  The product would be a more effective learning tool if hitting a second button did nothing until the first button was finished with its "job."  Many toys for kids this age are made this way.  We just find the toy incredibly frustrating to use and not at all effective as a learning tool.
