An okay toy, but if I had another child I wouldn't buy it again!

I'm not sure how exactly I feel about this toy. Nana bought this for one of my boys when they were really young and they seemed to like it. I will say that it is quite the process to set up. You have to follow the directions really well. Then there's a code and everything. We've used other toys that attach to the television and it never seemed to be this difficult to get going. Once it works though it's a fun little machine. There is one side with the shapes for babies to figure out and then when they get to be older the whole thing flips over and has a joystick and stuff. They have different games for the different ages that go with the sides. It is okay price wise, but then you will have to purchase the games as well. I think ours came with two discs. All in all it's a fun toy and a neat concept, but we didn't get a ton of use out of ours. It was just too difficult to set up each time and my child just didn't get into it as much as I thought that he would.

Another great teaching tool from leapfrog.

Not all leapfrog products have the same outcome of being a great product for kids, sometimes they come out with products that are not kid friendly. But this product is easy to use, all you need is a DVD player that work with this device, not all DVD players work with this device. Both my daughters have played with this toy. the DVD that comes with the toy is a walk threw game of colors and shapes and its interactive. The shapes show on the TV, and you look and hit the color or object that shows on the TV. And it sings and plays to it. then moves on to the next part of the game. Between this and the tad doll, my daughters have learn more and more of the basic foundation blocks to go on to learning or start learning more complex things. I'm not saying live advanced math or anything like that, but to objects that are similar to the ones that they have already seen. Its a great toy and I love it.

My Daughter loves this toy.

My daughter really cannot get enough of this toy, she just turned 1 and the Little Leaps was a birthday gift I really did not expect her to be able to use this but she got the hang of it right away the TV always holds her attention so we usually keep it off in our house (she'll sit in front of it like a zombie if you let her) however this gives her an educational way to interact with the TV the program stops if she stops pushing buttons so it keeps her engaged. I really had no problem setting this up and our DVD player is a few years old.

I feel leap frogis one of the best educational toys you canbuy on the market. They may cost alittle more but they are worth every penny. Babies love the noise.colors and it makes them curiousenogh to want to learn. Leap frog has a variety of toys for all ages which means that you can getthem for your baby through all the age stages they go through

It is awesome for babies and toddlers!!!

This video game/toy is awesome for babies and toddlers.  It is so simple for them to use.  They don't need to try and figure out directional buttons or anything.  It just asks you to push a button or move the joystick (in any direction...just move it!!).  Most of the games can be played in multiple languages which I think is so cool for kids to really have a headstart chance to learn new languages, just by PLAYING!!!  Hope this helps!  I would recommend this product to anyone who asked!

Not able to communicate with my dvd player

1

After hours of time invested trying to get this video game system to communicate with my dvd player, I have given up.  I am so disappointed.  I was so excited to let my son start learning with this system.  I searched high and low online entering hundreds of codes trying to get this system to communicate with my dvd player and have not had any success.  What a waste!  This is a great idea/concept, but if it cannot be used it sucks.  It should come with a cable to hook it directly to dvd player for cases when the codes will not work.  I understand that it is difficult to have a machine communicate with every dvd player on the market, but it seems a simple cord would eliminate all those frustrations.  Cordless is a great feature, but there should be a corded option for those of us who cannot otherwise use the system.  I would not recommend this product and I am very disappointed with spending all that money.

Love it/Hate it

3

I couldn't decide how many stars to give this because I hate it.  BUT my daughter absolutely LOVES it.   The controller itself is fine.  It was a difficult set up process.  We bought it used, so we didn't have the manual.  Fortunately we were able to find the code we needed online so we could set it to work with our dvd player.  Even though we went through the entire set up process and chose English as the language, it still wants to use Spanish every time we start it up.  I have to wrench the controller out of my toddler's hands so I can set it up in English for her. But the real reason I don't like it is the software available for babies.  The production quality is so low and the whole thing is so annoying to listen to that I dread hearing her ask for her "game." But it keeps her entertained for hours. I've found some software that looks different, but it all seems to be for older kids.  She has just figured out the buttons, so she's not ready to turn it over yet, but I'm not sure how much longer I can take Nestor, Bun Bun, Sammy, and Lulu.

Only for use with VERY young babies

3

We received this as a gift. I was excited to use it only to find out my daughter had outgrown it already by 6 months old! Maybe I just have smart kids, but it seems a little too young for its own good. By the time a baby can hold it and press the buttons, the cartoon animations are not teaching the age appropriate things. Other than that it was a great idea that just needs a little more improvement. The idea that the controller flips over for older kids was a good idea.

Great Educational Toy

5

Leap Frog Little Leaps is a great educational learning tool for babies and toddlers. I purchased this educational toy over 5 years ago for a little boy as a baby he wasn't too interested but as a toddler loving tv like they do he came to request it to play the multiple videos leapfrog has available. There are a range of videos from 9 months teaching them shapes, colors and animals to at 12 months teaching them how to count pick out shapes and colors to match and teaching them the weather and other wonderful options as they get older the 24 month videos incorporate them picking the matching letter or color or shape. It also allows them to choose which road or path to take to visit animals learn about the environment they live. I have a nephew now that is 2 1/2 and he loves loves this educational toy. He begs to play the Thomas the train one and it allows him to learn his abc's,different emotions and how they affect him along with the season's in the year. By flipping the unit over it works in the toddler mode and requires the toddler to not only select buttons but use a joy stick to do the features it is asking for which helps develope hand eye coordination. Leap Frog I want to commend you on a wonderful educational toy that ties in with the tv that so many toddlers love yet incorprated the learning that every toddler needs.

Great learning toy

We love our Little Leaps. You can buy lots of great dvd to go with it.  The machine is pretty much like  a remote control to your tv. Which can honestly be a pain because we have had to reset our controller several times and couldn't find the instruction manual that gives the directions on how to do that, so we had to search the internet and did find the instructions on what buttons to push to do that. I think this is another great Leap Frog toy that does a great job wtih teaching many things, like colors, numbers, and even letter sounds.  The bad thing is that it has dvds. Our dvds kept getting scrattche or messed up because my kids would get into it so that in the middle of games the game would freeze.  We had to throw out a lot of our games cause of this.  I'm not sure if its a problem with the toy, though, or myself for not keeping hte dvds out of hte reach of my kid's hands.  This is a great toy for kids ages 1-4 i n my opinion.
