LeapFrog Little Leaps Review Summary

The LeapFrog Little Leaps game system is a grow-with-me game system designed specifically with infants and toddlers in mind. Complete with a two sided controller, the LeapForg Little Leaps system is a versatile system that can also “take many beatings without stopping the program.” According to one satisfied reviewer, The LeapFrog Little Leaps game system provides “an interactive tool to be done with parent and child.” One of the main challenges with the LeapFrog Little Leaps system though is it works strictly with a DVD player and only with certain DVD players. System set-up has been described as “difficult”. One reviewer states “you have to be extremely patient during setup. If you can get past the setup stage and are able to invest in additional game cartridges reviewers claim that the LeapFrog Little Leaps system is “awesome for babies and toddlers.” Read more learning toy reviews here on Viewpoints.

We originally purchased the V-Smile Baby for our son for Christmas. It was promptly returned in exchange for the Little Leaps system.

So far we are very impressed with the system. Since the system is DVD based the graphics (movies) are great. I think it is far more stimulating than the...

My son received this last Christmas, right after he turned a year old.  He's only played with it once and then only for about 10 minutes.  I've tried to get him interested in it several times, since he loves pushing buttons, but he's just not interested in this.  It might be good for an older toddler,... review »

I received this as a gift last Christmas and it has yet to keep my toddler entertained for at least ten minutes. I keep trying it again every week or so and, at first, she is interested (I of course play with her and encourage her to press the right button for the corresponding color or shape or whatever) and I get REALLY excited when she does the right thing - but after a couple minutes she's like - NEXT! Maybe it's just toddlers in general because, honestly, I think this is really cool!

Any suggestions to make this more fun?

I READ SEVERAL NEGATIVE REVIEWS ON THIS PRODUCT AFTER I RECEIVED IT AS A GIFT.  I TRIED TO PROGRAM IT TO MY PLAYSTATION (LISTED AS A COMPATIBLE PRODUCT), BUT IT WOULD NOT WORK.

HOWEVER, I DID BUY A SONY DVD PLAYER TO TRY AND MAKE THIS WORK, AND ONCE IT DID - WE LOVE IT!!!  MY 2 YEAR OLD SON LOVES TO PLAY THIS, HE IS CAPABLE OF CONTROLLING IT IN TODDLER MODE ON HIS OWN.  I TRY TO TEACH HIM AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE, FROM NUMBERS TO LETTERS... I FORGOT ABOUT "FEELINGS ON YOUR FACE!"  THE THOMAS THE TRAIN GAME TAUGHT HIM "ANGRY FACE", "SAD FACE", "PROUD FACE", "HAPPY FACE", ETC... AND I WAS ABLE TO TEACH...

My daughter received this as a gift for her 1st birthday.  She was able to use it in baby mode right away.  Now that she is 18 months old, she is pretty much able to handle toddler mode as well.

However, the drawback is that the system only comes with 3 demo games, and then you have to invest in the additional games.  They're almost as expensive as buying games for a Playstation, Wii, or Xbox!  Okay, not as much, and it's educational, so that's a plus, but with toddlers, it's hard to say whether they'll like it or not, so to invest in a game that's so expensive not knowing whether they like...

We bought this Leapfrog Baby, Little Leaps toy for my oldest daughter for Christmas one year and she absolutely loves it! Even our second daughter likes it! It is a very simple toy for children to use, you don't need to sit there and do it for them. It is fun and teaches the children many things according to which game you put on for them. The first one that comes with the toy teaches shapes, music, numbers and animals. We got them a princess one and it teaches about colors, grouping, dance and songs. We also got them the Thomas the train ABC and feelings game as well - they love it. The last game...

My daughter really cannot get enough of this toy, she just turned 1 and the Little Leaps was a birthday gift I really did not expect her to be able to use this but she got the hang of it right away the TV always holds her attention so we usually keep it off in our house (she'll sit in front of it like a zombie if you let her) however this gives her an educational way to interact with the TV the program stops if she stops pushing buttons so it keeps her engaged. I really had no problem setting this up and our DVD player is a few years old.

This video game/toy is awesome for babies and toddlers.  It is so simple for them to use.  They don't need to try and figure out directional buttons or anything.  It just asks you to push a button or move the joystick (in any direction...just move it!!).  Most of the games can be played in multiple languages which I think is so cool for kids to really have a headstart chance to learn new languages, just by PLAYING!!!  Hope this helps!  I would recommend this product to anyone who asked!

this is a great educational tool. My kids all love this toy. They love to watch TV and I love the fact that they're learning while they do so. I have 2 toddlers so toys at my house have to be durable, the little leaps system can take many beatings without stopping the program.  It does have a few drawbacks though, you have to be extremely patient during setup. Also helps to have a dvd player thats a few years old - it will not work with a HD dvd player.

I am an aunt of 3 and have watched both my oldest nephews play this consel and games. They love it. It also grow with the kids having two controler sides. They get so involed with puppets on the screen and learn about numbers and colors. also aminals and the things about the world around them. They even learn songs. I give it an a-. why an a- well because you can't set it up to any tv. you have to have a dvd player.

My daughter has been using this for about a year.  SHe loves it and will play the same games over and over! It is a bit of a pain to do the initial start up, but after that its great! The original game that comes with it is more of a promo disk, my daughter didn't like it.  So we had to purchase a couple other games.

I cannot say that I am happy with my purchase. You can only use this product with certain DVD players. Luckily we have one of the DVD players that it is supposed to work with, but I have to set it up everytime my son wants to play with it. By the time I am done setting it up, he has already lost interest in it!

I love a toy that will help educate my child and this does that. The only thing is that it's kind of difficult to set it up according to your DVD player and keep up with your manual, because if you don't, you can't add another DVD player to it! It needs to have a little less talk and more interaction, though.
