I hate math. I can do it if I have to and if motivated. Mostly I need the basics and a general calculator to add, subtract, divide, and multiply.

Most calculators today do everything but paint your nails. Good grief. I do not need or want major functions when I need to tally grades or balance my checkbook.

In addition, calculators have gotten smaller and smaller while my eyes have gotten worse and worse. My fingers are slim but very long too, so all these mini buttons just drive me nuts. When I need a magnifying glass and a toothpick to work the calculator, then I am not a happy camper.

My sister gave me the LeWorld calculator for Christmas. It is large - bigger than a piece of generous toast. The buttons are likewise roomy. Each button is about the size of a minature marshmallow.

There are the basic buttons plus MC, MR, M-, and M+ and squiggle divide. I do not deal with those extra buttons, but if you need them, they are there.

This calculator has a very clear OFF button at the top left. The ON/C is at the bottom right. You do the old fashioned on and off switches rather than some solar turn on/off or time out. This one may turn off if the OFF button is not pushed. I don't know. I turn it off when I'm done.

The numbers display does lay flat or can be flipped up. I like it up when I'm using it and down when it's stored in the office drawer.

One good thing about this calculator is that it is large and not fancy, and my boys and/or students are not likely to carry it off working on a project. If so, it is big enough to be noticed and returned.

Feel free to call this an old fogey calculator, but if you need a basic calculator and like buttons you can see and a display large enough that you know for sure your totals, then this is the ticket. As a bonus, it is not going to be one that the kids borrow and forget to return. It is not "cool" enough to carry around for the younger crowd, but they use it in a pinch. Then they go looking for the $150 model you bought them for math class that does almost everything under the sun that many of us do not really need to do.

I hate math, can't get concepts part a certain level, and it really bothers me that it's required in order to get an AA degree in Mass Communications. I do use calculators, though! Good review!

Who knew so many people liked calculators with big buttons and numbers? It must be a secret (-:

Yes. Some things just work.

Tks for sharing your story. I enjoyed that.

I don't have poor vision, yet but I also have one of these and love it. I have it in the study and use it when balancing my checkbook. Funny story behind how I acquired mine.

My brother and I were in Nashville. We were at a novelty store that is attached to a trucker's restaurant. I was browsing thru all the Nashville souvenirs and as he always does he offered to get me something. I spotted the calculator and told him I wanted that. He thought I was joking but I was serious. He told me he would get me that but to pick out a souvenir too! So, I got an inspirational perpetual calendar and a patriotic figurine. That trip was 7 years ago and my calculator is still working!

Isn't it amazing what we will find as a "treasure?" ~Gigi

They ought to make a large print edition of the phone book--maybe they do...

I feel for you--I know my time is coming soon.

And I really would like the large print editon of the phone book. I thought they printed it smaller, but Caleb said they didn't and that I just can't see. Eye doc told me the same thing when I finally went.

Teehee! I thought I might be the only person on earth who wanted a simple calculator with big buttons. Looks like I am not alone. I bought my boys the high tech ones for school, but I really do not need to do all that stuff they have on there, and those little buttons just drive me nuts.

I have a similar one as well and I love the big numbers and the simplicity to it.

I have one similar to it. I like the big numbers it displays and that you can adjust or flip up the display part. It seems like the older I get, the smaller things get. I guess it is part of life. ;-)
