I recently visited the website for LeStick Designs where I found a whole fleet of custom airplane beds. By far the coolest one was an F15 Strike Eagle Twin Bed. I've never seen a bed look so much like a jet! It has a pointed nosecone with a cockpit, and tehre's even a seat and movable joystick in the cockpit. There are missiles and fuel tanks on the sides, and my son would adore it.
Unfortunately, it's a bit outside my price range, but the happy ending is that they also have some very cool vintage plane models with moving propellers, so I ordered one of those instead. It was customized with my boy's name and painted in the colors I picked to make it look like a Red Baron (no, I'm not a traitor, but he just loves skateboarding and the red baron has the independent symbol all over it). All of his friends have been envious, and I paid $900 for the twin bed with a bi-wing, all the custom work/paint, and shipping. I was also surprised when we got it to see taht it was made out of actual wood (they said birch panel) instead of the particle-board-type stuff. You can see wood grain lines when you look close... and the propeller has wood stain, which is cool, too (my son doesn't care, but I do).
It took about 8 weeks to receive it, and it was worth the wait. I definitely recommend the site to anyone looking for any kind of custom kid bed (they ever have airplanes for toddlers under $200). They have very affordable to more elaborate and expensive stuff, so it's good for most budgets, and the designs for boys or girls are adorable.
