Le Creuset Silicone Muffin Pans
I spend a lot of time in the kitchen and I enjoy creating meals for my family and guests. I have a collection of the very old, ugly but still useful muffin pans, as well as the new, non-stick coating muffin pans. Other than the fact that he loves blueberry muffins, corn muffins, brownie muffins, O.K. anything that is either sweet or begging for butter or both, I wasn't sure why my husband thought I needed a new muffin pan that was silicone, orange and floppy. Since it was UVA lacrosse season, I figured out the "go orange" part but still, did I need this? Would I like it better than the tried and true muffin pans I already had?
I have built up a fondness for Le Creuset kitchen products like my tea kettle but still this thing was weird. It was floppy. I gave it a try. It took me a couple of times of trying to transport the silicone muffin pan before common sense kicked in and I figured out that I should place the silicone muffin pan on a baking sheet before filling to easily transport it to the oven. Problem solved. But how did the results compare?
The Le Creuset silicone muffin pan stands up to its claims for "non-stick," "uniform baking" and "fool proof" release.
I have to admit that the results are superior. Muffins of any kind come out easily and stay together. No duds that you have to dig out in crumbles. Every muffin is consistently cooked. I won't claim that any recipe tastes better than before. Rather it is an issue of how they turn out or the presentation which any cook knows is more than half of the chalenge and reward.
I've used these not just for muffins but for crab croquets and egg and peas fritatas as well.
Le Creuset muffin pans are easy to clean and while not hard to store, they are floppy so that don't slide into a spot in that crowded pan cabinet the way others do. I've had to learn to be "flexible" too.
Yes, The Le Creuset silicone muffin pans do come in colors other than orange and they even have a cute heart shaped muffin pan perfect for Valentine's Day.
My Viewpoint: I am not giving away my metal muffin pans since I often bake more than one batch at a time but if I am only making one batch of muffins, the Le Creuset has stolen the number one spot in my oven because of the consistent results.
