Great for cooking, not so good for swatting someone!

I recently purchased a Le Creuset 11 3/4" cast iron skillet after wearing out our Calphon pans after many years of use. We wanted something without that was not non-stick because of health concerns about the non stick materials flaking off into the food. I bought this pan and a Danmeyere frying pan at Sur La Table thinking that I would test the two and which ever I liked best, I would buy a whole set.

The sales person at Sur La Table was very nice and explaiend that Danmeyere was top of the line for the serious chef, but that it was also the most expensive pans they sold. However, she told me,...

Le Creuset Cast Iron Skillet- Great, highly versatile skillet

Hands down, my favorite pan in the kitchent. Incredibly versatile, very durable pan that I use for all types of cooking. Absolutely my favorite pan and well worth the investment.

The one potential downside is that it's relatively heavy. So if you have a hard time with the relative weight or intend to be shifting it around a lot, then you may want to double check the product weight and make sure it's ok for you.

That said, if I were literally starting my kitchen over from scratch, this would be the first pan I'd buy
