A few weeks ago I saw **Laura Geller Balance N Brighten Baked Powder foundation **demonstrated on TV and decided to give it a try. I've used Bare Minerals foundation for years and like it, but I'm always on the lookout for something better, less messy, and easier to travel with. Although I had pretty good results with Balance N Brighten, it's not better than Bare Minerals. I'll still use up the rest of it, but I won't order it again. Balance N Brighten appealed to me as it is a dry cake of foundation, kind of like pressed powder. It is applied with a foundation brush (not included) and buffed onto the skin much the same way Bare Minerals is applied. I found that the coverage is not as good as Bare Minerals and it's actually messier to use. It's better to travel with but when I run the foundation brush over the powder to apply it to the brush, it falls over the side of the container and onto my counter, shirt, pants, whatever is nearby. This is not only a mess, it's also wasteful. If the container were a bit larger and able to hold the excess powder that comes loose from the cake I'd like it a lot more. Laura Geller Balance N Brighten seems like it would work best for people who already have a fairly even skin tone. I have red spots and scars that need more full coverage so this is not the best product for me. It did balance my color out a bit, just not to the extent I am comfortable with. It feels very light on the skin though which is nice, especially for spring and summer.

I absolutely love this stuff. It's part foundation, part bronzer, part blush! I purchased mine maybe five years ago, and I have yet to even use half of it. I use it everyday over my Bare Escentuals. I am very very pale, and this works as a bronzer for me too. I'll brush it on my forehead, cheeks, nose, and chin and it makes my skin look radiant. There is no shimmer in it either, so you can layer it on as much as you like. Laura Geller makes some fantastic makeup, and this is no exception. I think it's made in Italy and is baked, which somehow concentrates the colors and product. I think of this as investment makeup. It's expensive at first, but will literally last you for years. I can burn through a Wet'n'Wild bronzer in just a few months, because it isn't pressed and baked like this one is. I suggest people try out the kits first - there's more than enough in the smaller size! I will most definitely purchase this again, if I ever run out of it!

I tried this mainly out of curiousity -- did that baked powder really cover as well as other foundations?   In a word - NO.   I tried the original Balance N Brighten several years ago - back then, there was only one color choice.  It was waaay too dark for my fair skin, but it did even out my skin tone, even tho it was too dark.   I was delighted when LG came out with the "fair" Balance N Brighten and couldn't wait to try it.   Again, it did not cover my red rosacea cheeks - it didn't even blend away the blotches from too many sunburns as a teenager.  Also, it turns orangey and gets darker as the hours go by.  Maybe it only works on some people and certain skin types.  I have oily, very fair skin with a few blotches and redness.   I do wear it on the weekends for quick trips and errands - it's fast and easy to apply.  Just brush it on and go.  However, like I said, after a couple hours, it changes color on me.

I started using Laura Geller's line of makeup because my mother was using it and she suggested it to me.  I started to use some of her products and I fell in love with them.  I currently use many Laura Geller products but the Balance and Brighten I use everyday without fail.  It comes in pressed powder form and I apply it using a Kabuki brush every morning.  It is so light and fresh, nothing like liquid foundation at all!  And it lasts pretty much all day!  To make it stay longer, you should use a primer to go under the balance and brighten.  Balance and Brighten takes no time to apply, so it is amazing when you are in a hurry or running late.  I apply it over my concealer, and then sometimes after I had bronzer or blush and then eye makeup. Overall it probably takes me about five minutes to put on all my makeup since Balance and Brighten speeds up that process so much.  I would recommend this product to anyone, no more worrying about your makeup running when its too hot out or it taking too long to put on !!! It's an amazing product that everyone should try! PS. It is a bit pricey, but it lasts a long time, so it's totally worth it!

This gives you full coverage without the feel of a heavy foundation.  I use this daily instead of fondation that you have to smear on your face and then it gets into your fine lines....this does nothing like that! Goes on smooth and looks natural!

Laura Geller make up is amazing. Her balance n brighten is the best foundation i have ever used. It evens out my skin and makes my blush look terrific. I am olive skin-toned so i use the medium color. It works perfectly for my skintone. The item lasts a long time and the product stays on all day. All of Laura Geller's makeup is fantastic. Her baked products are the best. If you have sensitive skin, this is the product for you. I did make sure to use a great foundation brush to apply this product. The Balance N Brighten is a matte finish, so if you have shiny undertones, they will not show through. It comes in Fair, Medum, and Tan. Most women will use the medium. If you use this product everyday, it will last as long as 6 months; and because it is not a liquid, it will not attract bacteria and have to be thrown away like mascara does every three months. Once you try Laura Geller Makeup, you will never go back to using anything else.

*I was so excited to finally try Balance 'N Brighten, after more than a year of seeing it presented from time to time on QVC. I couldn't wait to try this swirled, pressed powder to see if it would balance my skin tone, tame a few areas of red blotchiness and brighten my skin a bit. This was always presented as being for ALL skin tones, so I didn't hesitate to purchase it for my somewhat fair skin. I love the look of the three colors swirled together. There is a light to medium beige color, a darker tan color and a yellowish peach shade. Mix them together by swirling a face brush along the top of the pressed powder dome, and they form a medium beige shade. This powder does not have any shimmer in it, thankfully. I can use this stuff pretty freely without having to worry about too much shimmer on my face. Overall, this is just an average face powder.I feel that, especially for the price, it should perform better. I do like the packaging, the mirrored compact and the coverage, but it should still "balance" and "brighten" on some level. It is important to keep in mind that if you have super fair or porcelain skin, this will be too dark for you unless you have a bit of a tan.*

If you are looking for a beauty product that will give you amazing coverage for your entire face, Laura Geller's Balance N Brighten Baked Powder is the one for you. I have a very fair skin tone and always felt self-conscious about looking too pale. However, when I use this product I feel that my skin tone is very balanced and has a nice shade to it. Also, it covers up blemishes very well. I have used this product by itself, over concealer and over a liquid foundation for extra coverage. I highly recommend this product! You will not be dissatisfied.
