After already owning several Lasko fans, we needed another fan for a new room (keep one in each bedroom and one in living room). Never doubted it would be a Lasko as they always last for several years (one of our other ones we have had for 3 years - no problems). This particular fan is even quieter than the others we own and seems to cool much faster and better than the others. We did consider other brands based on price, but found that Lasko not only has the best quality in tower fans but also the best value for your money. Whenever someone asks what fan they should consider, I always tell them to find a Lasko - and I always recommend the Lasko and will be recommending this current model if for no other reason than you cannot even hear it running and if it weren't for feeling the breeze it emits, you wouldn't even know it was on.
