We bought our Lasko Digital Ceramic Heater 5840 on Open Box @ Sam's Club.  My husband loves a GREAT Deal and Digital Gadgets with Remote Controls. (so do I)  This is a wonderful light weight unit with lots of air flow.  I really like the 2 fan speeds and that it has an automatic thermostat.  AND if it is OFF I can turn it on with the Handy Remote when my feet get cold, instead of turning up my house heater.

There are NO instructions on how to maintain the unit.  But with the nice amount of air flow there is going to be an accumulation of dust.  This will cause the heater to shut off for safety.

When it shut down a couple of times I followed the directions to leave it off for 5-10 minutes.

That seemed weird.

So I investigated the problem.  Dust Bunnies.

Solution:  CANNED AIR and my Trusty Vacuum Cleaner.  It did not look like it was dirty.  But.....there was more dust than meets the eye.  After I turned it back on there was even a PUFF of dust and that smell.  (you know...like you burned dinner)

Now it works GREAT!  Next time I might even use my leaf blower on the bottom.
