My extra room was not built the right way, so I need extra help in the Heating/Cooling department. In the past 3 years I have had to improvise in order to keep the office comfortable not only for us humans but my babies as well. The office not only houses the computers but 3 very picky Cockatiels that prefer it to be between 72 and 78 degrees year round. Well 2 weeks ago when the weather started getting cooler my old heater decided to retire on me so I went in search of a new one and was able to catch one on sale at Walmart.

Lasko Cyclonic Ceramic Heater - Model 758000

Standing about 2 1/2 feet tall and light gray in color this little beauty weighs in at about 15lbs. You can also safely place it against a wall if you desire or like I did in the center of the office between the 2 desks. My birds are perched between the desks on a stand so they stay warm and cozy that way. Besides it was the only place I could put it without having to use an extension cord....lol

This heater has 2 power levels, that being 750 and 1500 watts, it also has an Auto Thermostat where you can control the temperature. The Auto setting will turn the unit on when the room gets 1 degree below your setting and 2 degrees above it. I set it to 72 so the birds stay comfortable as the temp will go between 71 and 74 as the outside temperature fluctuates.

On top is an adjustable louver that allows me to aim the warm air for the best comfort as the fan gently circulates the warmth in the office. From a noise level comparable with the fans in the computers I can hardly tell it is even running and I like that. The birds don't seem to mind it either, so it doesn't scare them.

Features and Functions

1. Two heat levels - 750 and 1500 Watts
2. Overheating Shut Down ( Unit shuts off in case of overheating and must be reset by unplugging for 15 minutes)
3. Adjustable Temperature Control (3 degree heat swing)
4. Can be placed against a wall.
5. Adjustable Air Flow to aim warmth where needed in the room.
6. Polarized Plug ( can only be plugged in the right way)
7. 3 year Warranty

As with any space heater there are a few precautions to take:

1. Never operate heater in a wet or damp environment such as a bathroom!
2. Keep any flammable products far away from the heater and preferably not in the same room!
3. Never use an extension cord unless the manual says it is okay!
4. DO NOT--place the cord under any rug and make sure there is no trip hazard involving the cord!
5. Never place clothing, boxes or any other flammable object in front of or allow it to touch the heater.

Bottom Line

This little heater is doing a great job in my office and I hardly hear it running at all. We have had many nights in the past 2 weeks in the mid to lower 30's and yet the office has stayed very comfortable at around 72 degrees. In fact the office is warmer and more comfy than the rest of the house as it maintains temperature better than my furnace has...lol

Yeah my office has a concrete floor and isn't very well insulated, so this thing comes in real handy...;)
