There are days during the summer that it's not humid and the heat doesn't get to me and I prefer having a fan moving air around instead of having everything closed up and the air conditioner on. When I lived in San Diego I had a Cyclone Wind Machine which is almost identical to this newer version and I loved it. When I started shopping for floor fans I knew that I wanted another Cyclone and when I saw that this one had a remote control I knew that it was the best pick. I could adjust the speed of the fan without having to put my prosthetic leg back on and if the temperature dropped at night I could turn it to the lowest speed or off with the remote. When fall came and I packed the fan away for the winter I put the remote control on a shelf in the storage room never to be seen again. Even though the remote control is missing in action, I still use the fan and love it. It is more powerful than a box fan and safer to use too. Because of the large feet on the Cyclone it doesn't get knocked over easily even when the fan is tilted to blow air upward. It can get knocked over but not as easily as a box fan. This has three speeds and is powerful enough to move a lot of air even in large rooms; you can put it in a window but you need to make sure that if you have it on the highest speed that it isn't going to shake or make a lot of noise. You can do that by putting a towel under the base of the fan and pulling the window down on to the top of the fan to temporarily brace it in the window. If you are going to be using this from time to time in a window you will need to clean it to prevent dust and dirt from accumulating on the inside of the front grill. The one that I had in San Diego was in operation for six years before the motor gave out and it was used about four months straight in the summer months. While this costs almost twice as much as a standard box window fan it is more powerful and can be safely angled to circulate air.

Lasko 3540 Cyclone 20 inches Pivoting Floor Fan with Remote Control blows alot of air so beware with any paper worl nearby. Slighty noisy but overall great buy. Will keep you feeling cool especially in the hot summer days.

My mom always told me , when she brought me home from the hospital, she put me under a fan. I have been through many fans in my 49yrs and this Cyclone is a powerful fan. Normally I want it on high and blasting. With the Cyclone number one does fine.

I am *definitely*all about keeping cool! Having a fan or two in my home is a very important part of keeping cool, especially in the hot summer months. My very favorite fan is the LASKO 20 In. I have a very small air conditioner that really only keeps my living room clean, so having this fan in my bedroom is a must.
