Lasko 6410 Ceramic Heater —

As some of you know we recently purchased an old home in the country. The house was built in 1860 and does not have central air or heat or any insulation. I’m convinced that the reason the previous owners moved was because of how cold the house was in the winter.

We have only had mild cold weather here so far. The lows haven’t dropped past 50 degrees yet. But waking up in a house that is only 50 degrees in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom is not fun. We have been on the lookout for some small heaters that can be placed in the rooms we use most often to zap the chill on brisk mornings and nights.

The Lasko Designer Series Oscillating Ceramic Heater caught my eye in the store. The design was nice looking and although modern, had a look that would fit into the décor and atmosphere of an old home. The heater stands about 1 ½ feet tall and sits into a base that looks similar to a flower pot stand. The Lasko Ceramic Heater is a pretty golden color that matches the wooden carvings on the mantle in the living room. It is an excellent fit to that room.

Specifications

The Lasko Designer Series Oscillating Ceramic Heater is designed to be used indoors on the floor. The heater requires a regular 120 volt outlet for power. It has oscillating motion to spread the warmth all around the room instead of just in one direction.

Heat control is controlled by an electronic touch control button located on the top of the heater. You can set the heater to put out from 60 degrees to 85 degrees or maximum heat (1500 watts). The Lasko Designer Series Oscillating Ceramic Heater has a timer that can be set for one hour, two hours, 4 hours or for 7 hours by selecting all three options at one time. It heater automatically turns off when the period of time selected is up. You also have an option of high power or low power and you can turn the oscillating feature on or off.

How Does the Lasco Work?

So far, we are pleased with the performance of the Lasko Designer Series Oscillating Ceramic Heater. Compared to the heaters that were left in the house, this one puts off 3-4 times more heat.

We have used this heater in the living room while watching television at night. It provides enough warmth to keep the room cozy and break the chill. We have also moved it to our bedroom for the night, and it kept the room an even temperature throughout the night. Compared to the rest of the house when you open the bedroom door in the morning, it is total comfort.

I really like the style and looks of this heater. The decorative iron scrollwork at the bottom makes the fan look nice when placed in any room in the house. It doesn’t stand out or look like a standard heater.

I also appreciate the safety features on this heater. The ceramic element is safer than other options on the market. I also like the automatic off feature in case I forget to turn the heater off on a morning when I have left for work. Being over an hour away from work, it would pretty much waste a morning having to turn around and come back home to turn a heater off.

The Lasko Designer Series Oscillating Ceramic Heater Model No. 6410cost under $50.00. I would recommend this heater for anyone needing a little extra warmth in any single room.  I am planning on picking up at least one more of these heaters soon.

Hi Jo, I hope it isn't too cold there! Having no heat is not fun!

I could use this right now. Our electric fireplace broke (:

That is really a beautiful design for a heater!

My parents don't have central heat either and they keep their entire house warm by using the ceramic heaters in each room. Sounds like you found something that works for you and I think the design is too beautiful for a heater ;+)

It got down to the lower 40's over the weekend in MS. In a house with no insulation -- a little bit of heat was needed :) If I were at the other house, I wouldn't have bothered. Makes you thankful for insulation for sure!

A space heater? I am still wearing shorts does it ever get cold here?

SweetPeach wrote on Oct 20, 2008 at 12:59PM

Sounds like a great heater and the price is reasonable...enjoyed reading your view :)

Don't worry--all the electrical and plumbing has been redone :)

Good review. Just make sure your electrical wiring is up to snuff and not too old and can handle the load of the heater.
